bish Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 What is up with all this myspace and facebook crap? There are alot, too many, problems with people's relationships, and I'm never surprised when they say something like, "so I hacked into his/her facebook account and guess what I found out????" Personally I don't think I could date someone with one of these accounts as it seems, as evidenced by what people are saying here, that its nothing but a way to keep the channels open with other people, especially the opposite sex, in case a hook up is desired.

Was it a site, if so, what's the name? Those pictures are hilarious to me. Okay back to the subject at hand, myspace isn't only for random hookups. I play games there, and it is a way for me and family in other states to share pictures of our children. It also can be used to network yourself, and link up with others interested in the same field, like music, comedy, and movies. I can't coment on facbook, as I don't have an account there, but myspace isn't simply for whoring, lol.
westernxer Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Anything can be used for whoring. Social networking happens to be the easiest for this, even though it was designed with good intentions (supposedly). I prefer to do my whoring anonymously. LOL
Author bish Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Understood guys. But too many times I am seeing MS or FB come up on the board and it was never good.
TotalChaos Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I created a MySpace account to find old classmates from HS. I use it strictly for people that I know in real life. It is a great tool to keep in contact with friends and family. There are always gonna be people that abuse it, but not everyone is using it to get a hook up.
rod_in_gtown Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Understood guys. But too many times I am seeing MS or FB come up on the board and it was never good. because most of the threads about FB and MS generally illustrate a channel that cheaters have used to do their deeds. Having said accounts does not make you a cheater, that's a stupid analogy to make. It would be like making the following statements: The show cheaters shows that all their cheaters drive cars and use their cellphones to contact and meet their secret lovers. therefore people with cellphones and cars must be using them to have a means of cheating open. Dateline has demonstrated through evidence that pedofiles use MSN messenger to chat with underage girls and get them to agree to have sex, therefore someone who has MSN messenger on their computer, is by logical deduction a pedofile who wants to lure small children into lewd sexual acts. The channels through which the cheaters open and maintain their deception are not the causes of their cheating. they're merely a means to an end. The problem is not cars, cellphones, facebook or my space. the problem are the cheaters.
Author bish Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 because most of the threads about FB and MS generally illustrate a channel that cheaters have used to do their deeds. You’re saying you wouldn’t date people with FB and MS accounts because you perceive them to be cheaters. The fact that you’re adopting that philosophy without really thinking about the flip side is weak IMO. I said the analogy was stupid not you, I don't know you well enough to make that statement.
Al_Bundy Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 As long as there are hooters on those sites, I think they are just fine.
Duckie Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 My boyfriend and I both have Myspace. He used to have Facebook. He will not change his status to "in a relationship" even after eight months. I also suspect he likes someone else/would prefer to be with someone else. Someone who is also one of his friends. Why would he not want to publicize his relationship??? It cuts very deep.
audrey_1 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 One of my friends just came through a rough period with her boyfriend. She had both a Facebook and Myspace account. He had a Myspace account. They were both on my page. They realized they truly want to be in a committed relationship with each other and agreed to delete all their accounts. Probably a good decision given all the crap you hear. By their doing this, it's symbolic and shows their seriousness about each other. I'm glad I have her phone number.

I am going by what I see people complain about all the time, and when they complain about bad relationships with people and their silly little internet fad of MS and FB, its never good. I said the analogy was stupid not you By telling someone what they say is stupid IS calling them stupid. The statement above is nothing more than denial.
rod_in_gtown Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Both my parents and quite a few of my aunts and uncles are on facebook. I gues that makes them all whores

Well, because you're not going to hear people who like facebook post endlessly about what a great tool it is to connect people who are separated by great distances. So please, overlook the fact that there are 100 million users worldwide and pay attention to the dozen or so who complain about the service. If you do the math, you'd see who really is in the minority. I'm sure if you lived 100 years ago, you'd be one of those people who would call unnatural and demonic that whole "telephone" invention. By telling someone what they say is stupid IS calling them stupid. The statement above is nothing more than denial. If that's what you want to hear, then so be it.
