Vertex, do you have any or many close friends?

 

Yes. I have a fair number of friends and a few very close ones.

 

I thought college was THE hardest place to get dates from. Even when I had the excuse of groups or class interaction, I've always had an easier time finding people in the real world then in college.

 

Hey, there's an article on yahoo's front page about the US cities with the highest density of single women. You could always sway the odds in your favor after college.

 

LOL, but I wonder why they are all single, then? I am hoping something exogenous

How close do you allow them to get? How about close family?

Fairly close, I'd say. Although friends can only do so much, you know?

 

As for my family, not so great. My dad was killed a few years ago, and growing up I was never really close to anyone in my family. I've always been a very "make my own path" sorta guy.

Im so sorry about your dad.

 

You sound like someone who is driven, determined, and smart. The "real world" will give you opportunities to become less shy. I know many people now who are quite outgoing, but considered themselves very shy when they were younger.

 

I know what you mean by feeling like you are running out of time, but really, you have all the time in the world! I fel like that sometimes at the advanced age of 35 but you are just a youngin'.

 

I think the real issue here is to try and figure out what it is that makes you feel incomplete without an s/o. Easier said than done, but a lot of us have gone through it and come out the other side. When I was younger I thought I was a nobody if someone didn't love me, but I don't feel like that anymore.

Vertex, the ex that made you feel great, were you also close to her family?

Not extremely close, to be honest. I was just close with that particular ex.
