Eyeofthoth Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Hmmm. . . Met a guy who lives an hour away. I don't think this would really be a problem except that we are both busy and both have kids (pre-teen and teenaged) living at home. Anybody?
Ronni_W Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I guess it depends where you live. I used to do a daily hour-long commute (one way), so for me that's not LD, at all. And my b/f was 50 minutes away, and we didn't consider that an LDR. I don't think the scheduling issues are a determining factor in whether or not it's an LDR, though. But. This is all just my own view. Others might see driving an hour as an 'eternity'.

However, it will probably cause some of the pain in the bum problems that LDR's do, such as seeing each other less than you like. It'll be fine though Just scheduel ahead of time to see each other and webcam if you've gone too long without going on a date with him
carhill Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 IMO, no. My wife lived 60 miles away and we switched off traveling for the 18 months prior to getting married. That was back in the days of land lines and expensive long distance but cheap gas If the R matters, you just do what you need to do. Children ride in cars and babysitters exist. I recall dating a woman for a few months who had kids and lived about 40 miles away. We just threw them and their bikes in the back of the truck and they went with us most places and she got a babysitter when we went out to dinner or something "adult". I don't have kids but never felt children to be a hindrance to dating at all. I remember when voice chat on computers was new and a black and white Quickcam was cool. Used them both for true LDR's where the person was a plane flight or hours by car away. Where there's a will, there's a way
Author Eyeofthoth Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Thanks guys. Yeah, I think the distance is definitely doable. There are some other factors, including the kid thing, which may turn out to be a handful, but I'm not going to let the hour slow me down.
