bomber54 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 My wife is peri-menopausal, for sure. Been going through it a few years now... mood swings, loss of libido, can't sleep... Now we've had serious marital problems more than 5 years but I need to know just how bad this thing is and have any other relationships suffered as bad as mine. It's to the point that we are high risk for breaking up after 29 years. I have been sleeping in the guest room for a year now. So I'm just asking about the one thing now and not all the other issues. I've heard it gets better once menopause sets in because things stabilize. No, she won't exercise, take HRT or stop smoking.
Geishawhelk Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I'm sorry, but the peri-menopause is just a 'cover'. Issues here go far deeper than hormonal. I'm 52 and know what it's like to be 'peri-merry-pansy', as I heard a lady tell her friend she was.....! If you've had problems in the past, it's not going to get any better, and there's no point hiding behind the condition. It's convenient, sure. But it's not honest......
Eve Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 My wife is peri-menopausal Ok, I am not as yet at that stage (I am 36), but being quite an anal person I have hatched a plan in rediment for this whole menopause business. For the pas 10 years I have been using a coil called the Mirena (or is it spelt Myrena?) Basically it has the same protection against pregnancy as sterilization and apparently can help with the all the pre and menopausal stuff. I am REALLY sorry that you and your Wife have become stuck in a cycle which does not help you to be close... and that this has been going on for SO long - (my Husband would be howling and whining if he had to walk in your shoes) ... I am sure that you have been told the value of special time spent together on a regular basis and giving lots of loving attention... I do think that you should be sharing the same bed though! Like, be a bit forthright for goodness sake and get some loving going on ... Still thats my view and what do I know? I hope that your Wife can get some relief really soon. The Mirena/Myrena hurts like a bitch when being inserted (please excuse my language here - but its true) Having it taken out is even more of a bitch but because it pumps the necessary hormones up into the womb area its all worth it. It is the more expensive option and I do not have the American brand name for it ... but seriously, I THANK GOD IN HEAVEN for whoever invented this device. In women who still have to go through the whole monthly period thing it is SO wonderful because they stop for years. Anyhow, I hope my plan works out as I also hope that you and your Wife can get close again in spirit and in proper good old fashioned man and his woman lovin'... Take care xx
