nicki Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Love that! I guess the question is designed to show what things people value the most. If they would bring books to the island, then books are important to them. If they say their dog, then that says something, too. Porn collection, blow up doll also shows priorities. I suppose the types of answers one gets could be very telling, but I agree most guys don't like these hypothetical type of questions. They are more than likely to answer a GPS device and a satellite phone because that would get them off the island! Problem solved. Next question. I agree, a better question would be "If you went on vacation for several months to a deserted island, what would you want to bring with you?"
nicki Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Make that an island with a nice hotel and food service!
a4a Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I agree, a better question would be "If you went on vacation for several months to a deserted island, what would you want to bring with you?" would not the expected answer be : You how corny! Gak!!
westrock Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 "If you went on vacation for several months to a deserted island, what would you want to bring with you?" Just asking these types of hypothetical questions reveals more about the person asking the question than what any answer would reveal about the person answering it. I guess anyone can give an answer to the question. But, asking that question could backfire. If I was asked that question, my first thought would be to wonder who goes on a vacation to a deserted island for several months? Then I would think the other person might be a loner who prefers to avoid social interaction. This would make me wonder if they would have a place for me in their life to have a relationship. I guess the question is designed to show what things people value the most. If you want to know what a guy values the most the best way to find out is to just ask him directly, and then observe how he acts over a few dates to see if his words are consistent with his actions.
stefspets Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I'm a girl and I hate hypotheticals. So it's not limited to just guys. If it's a hypothetical situation that has a very real chance of occurring then I am more likely to really think about it and answer the question. I can't do unrealistic imaginary stuff, my head does not work that way.
JamesM Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 would not the expected answer be : You how corny! Gak!! Awww! that is such a sweet answer!
Final Girl Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I can't stand these questions either...he could just have rattled off things from the top of his head like ipod, laptop, diary, frisbee, drumkit blah blah.....it wouldn't mean anything!! I think it's kinda cool that he didn't answer....at least it shows he doesn't do pointless things just for the sake of it!!!
a4a Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Awww! that is such a sweet answer! OMG you wouldn't buy that answer would you?
