I'm immature and I like it, I have no problem with my girlfriend calling me a freak, it's all fun and games. Some men get so uptight like a Polly Bird.

At last a dude with a sense of humor that can laugh at his freaky self!

Freak on freaky man.

What the hell is a Polly Bird?

That's just it. We know we're not. That's been driven into our "male" heads since we were old enough to attend public schools. We just get tired of having to *prove* we know it by enduring the careless and thoughtless jibes of women who think they're the first ones to take a stand for the paradigm of *womenousity* by throwing it in our faces a little more often than necessary. Some of us can laugh it off, others aren't quite as thick skinned, and are offended by it, and others are unfortunately drawn into arguments over it.

Annie Oakley

Admiral Grace Hopper

Lucille Ball, Phylis Diller, Carol Burnette (because I mentioned them earlier)

Marie Curie

Joan of Ark

and many others

These are the great and true Feminists of our world, and they are the ones that women of today should try to emulate.

As for the topic of "Maturity", I think this particular thread does an exceptionally good job of showing we all stand equally when it comes to "acting one's age".

ehhh....... sorry don't buy the "cuz they made me this way" theory.

According to what is pounded into my head since being a wee tot I should bake cookies and strive to look like Barbie.

Neither on my to do list that I am aware of.

And just who should men model themselves after?

The pope? :p

I'll concede immaturity if breast feeding is on the menu.... ;)

Quid pro quo?

Wow.. if that's true.. then my young MM is 15..

maybe it's something about breastfeeding like Car said.. ;)

Go back and look at the first page of this thread, and the original post. Where's the light-hearted joshing? Find a 'joke.' It's just woman saying men are inferior to them. That might make some women feel great about themselves, but it doesn't qualify as a joke, any more than a thread saying 'those black people sure are lazy, eh?' would.

It's not until someone complains that suddenly the 'hey we're just having fun' excuse comes up, and is them twisted into an attack onto men not being able to take a joke.

Was it a terrible attack on men? Not really, we've heard much worse. Was it a humorous thread? Not really. Was it indicative of many women's unquestioning freedom to denigrate men. Yup.

This is why we should denigrate them in return. Stop being afraid of being called a misogynist.

Then they flag you and you get banned/moderated.

I'm not afraid of being called a misogynist, but I'm not one. I'm more a hypocrisy-buster.

If a guy doesn't have at least some boyish and playful quality about him, I wouldn't be interested. If he acts like someone who addresses responsibilities like a man who's ten years younger, he would be a complete write-off. Playing mama to an SO is such a turn-off.

I have yet to be banned and I have been posting on here since 2005.

Hm..well what about women who are manipulative? I think that calls for something.

Far too many times have I met women who use/manipulate a situation to get what they want or tell a white lie here or there to make themselves appear more grandiose than they really are.

As God is my witness, I will never emulate any one of these women. Spare me! :lmao:

I would suggest anyone who has committed their life to doing something worthwhile with the best of their abilities, but in all fairness, I believe that would be a better question for *you* to answer.

The list is by no means complete, please feel free to add to it.

My only reasons for choosing those women as examples is because they ALL achieved greatness through their own efforts, without AA, ERA, and a troop of "You Go Girls" carrying signs and chanting slogans about bicycles and fish to give them a false sense of superior "maturity" over men. If women of today didn't take themselves so seriously, they might be able to appreciate the humor in that.

This is why, in a perfect world, everyone would be gay.

Depends on the situation. Most men act mature at work, even in their twenties. Outside of work, they act whatever age they want to. It's a matter of choice.

I haven't read any of the responses, so maybe this is off-topic or has been discussed before.

This is what I thought upon reading the opening post: "If that was said about women, it would put me off."

Come on, saying a (slightly) derogatory thing about an entire gender?

In my experience, men and women tend to value different things and focus more on what they deem important. So, men and women also grow up differently and have different outsets on life. This is true for the big men-vs-women picture, as well as for every single individual. So, no, I can't say that men generally are less mature or act younger.

If you only knew what I do.

Now I feel even more superior - thanks. :p

See, this is what happens when I don't check in for a whole day. Now I've got a lot of catching up to do!!

My maturity level depends on my mood. If I'm happy, I have the maturity of a 3rd grader. If not, I'm a normal, mellow adult. Fortunately, (so far) today is a Muppets/Animaniacs day. Then again, my boss hasn't started bugging me yet, so it still could turn into a grown-up day...hopefully not.

What do you all think? Would you agree with this? This is just something that I have noticed in my dating life i.e. if the guys is 45, mentally he's really like a 35 year old. If the guy is 21, he's really 11

Does this mean I can date 18 year olds again without being a borderline pedophile? Giggity-giggity! :D

AllStar, I am not going to dragged into an argument about DCGirl on this thread. I am staying away from that thread, as I don't espouse violence against men OR women, and I think that violence is never, ever cute.

No, but clown violence is funny! Find anyone who didn't laugh the first time they heard the cannibal eating a clown joke. I still laugh when I hear the phrase "does this taste funny to you?".

And to quote a really demented shirt, "you can't have 'manslaughter' without 'laughter'". Which is kinda creepy when you think about it!

I consider myself attractive and very feminine, but I could still rock at short-stop and pitcher on my softball team. I had an Ozzie Smith autographed glove, and I loved the popping sound it would make when I caught a whistling line-drive. ;)

 You have an Ozzie Smith autographed glove? AND YOU USED IT?? I'm not sure if I'm incredibly impressed, or horrifically shocked.

Angry bitter dudes are just as bad as angry bitter women.

Yeah, but when have men ever threatened to give up on women and only date men? Okay, apart from Jilly Bean's bi-cop... :p

If a man got up on stage and made a bunch of anti-woman jokes, and spent the evening talking about jerking off, where would he be today? Go ask Andrew "Dice-man" Clay.

My favourite (and I'm sure, many other men's favourite, too) was Tim Allen's famous line. "Men are pigs" (sound of women cheering) "...too bad we own everything!!"

Don't go getting all motherly on us Liz....... we like you dirty!

Don't go giving her any bad ideas! Some of the craziest, wildest girls I've dated were mothers. I don't know if it's some pent-up, repressed thing or what, but I certainly do enjoy the results of it!

Well, enough of this bs that men are immature. I'm gonna go on Youtube and watch Fraggle Rock now. Dance your cares away [clap-clap]. Worry's for another day! Let the music play [clap-clap], down in Fraggle Rock!

(For anyone who remembers that show, did I just get that song embedded in your head? I hope so!)

Sidebar: doesn't the intro to Fraggle Rock remind you of the intro to Talking Heads' Psycho Killer? [/rant]

That's a silly thing to say, when you don't know me.

And I don't value jokes

no one here knows me.

But we do know your uptight posts

Excuse me?

I was going to suggest on your other thread that you go to Banana Republic where they have a great casual black blazer now that is appropriate for someone in your age bracket, and then hit a Johnston and Murphy for a soft leather jacket (a lot of leather looks really cheap, and you are too old for cheap), but then again, wtf would I want to help you? Uptight? Maybe we should have a thread about old dudes?

(Btw, you are too mature for a hoodie, IMHO; and watch jeans that have a lot of etching or fading or funkiness on the pockets. You are right not to want to look like a A&F wannabee.)
