What do you all think? Would you agree with this? This is just something that I have noticed in my dating life i.e. if the guys is 45, mentally he's really like a 35 year old. If the guy is 21, he's really 11

I don't agree with this.

My H is 40 now and he acts like he is 12... perhaps there is some variables to consider?

Posted

Sorry you're both wrong.

No man ever gets past 9-and-a-half.

What's more worrying, is that my partner freely admits this....!!:D

My BF is 42 and I'm 31. It feels like we're both 31 or 42 sometimes.

I don't want to act my age if I can get away with it. LOL

After 10 years of dating men in their 40s, early 50s (I'm now 33), who seemed to be on the level emotionally, with few to no games and knowing where I stood with them at all times, recently dating someone my age seemed like I was in high school again.

Truly.:p

I disagree.

Question: If you feel that badly about men, why do you date them?

Posted

Nobody feels badly about men. We just pointed out some few facts. I loove men!:love:

Sorry, I was responding to the OP.

What is the point of making generalizations that denigrate men, when so many posters on LS seem to be looking for and longing for love? I seriously don't get that concept.

lol.. I hardly think men themselves feel denigrated by this thread. Why don't we leave that for them to decide?

I don't know about mentally, but in regards to "maturity level" you could probably take some years off.

I don't think men take themselves as seriously as Lucy does. LOL

I just happen to really like and value men. What is wrong with that?

Good idea. Here's my decision: it is insulting and sexist.

Women generally aren't that happy when others do their best to denigrate their intelligence. Men should not tolerate this either, and this man right here will not.

Lucky, we're just having a bit of fun...just because we're pokin' a bit, doesn't mean we don't love them, respect them or are happy to have them around...Goodness knows there are plenty more vitriolic generalisations on this forum sometimes - !

Many men ARE like little boys - and in many ways, sometimes we love 'em for it, at other times it drives us nuts! I'm sure there are plenty of things we do that do the same to men, so....chill...ok?

Is that supposed to turn us women on? :lmao:

So if a 40 year old acts like a 30 year old, but a 30 year old, logically, acts like a 20 year old... and so forth...

Are we all... ZERO year olds?!

Are we all really just... big babies?!

O.O

I'm a little confused. Are we talking about "mentally" as in irresponsible/immature? Or are we talking about intellect?

I don't think men act 10 years younger, however most mature at a different pace then women do. Not all men, but in most cases women are ready to do more adult things (marriage, children, job, ect.) sooner then men are.

I don't think my boyfriend acts like he is 16, possibly 21.

IMHO, to take offense at a jibe as silly as this is a mark of immaturity and low self confidence! My maturity level is at least 10 years below my chronological age, and I'm rather proud of it! I think it shows a particular resilience against the great equalizer - Time.

I personally like a woman who can act like a schoolgirl when she's having fun. Too many of them seem to adopt a matronly attitude of moral superiority, almost as if they're afraid to crack a smile, sometimes.

So, in response to the Ladies comments here, all I can say is...

Nyah, Nyah!

I'm rubber,

You're Glue!

Everything you say bounces off of me,

and Sticks to YOU!

Bingo!

I dated a girl who was very uptight... last thing I need is another mother. Yuck! LOL

There's a ton of variation. I've met guys that were too mature--it seemed they were looking for their wife to be on the first date. Ick.

Guys are much more attractive when they act their age instead of like they are younger. I hope 30 year old guys don't act like they are 20. That would really suck.

I could be just right for you in a few years....

....I'm only 53 1/2 years old!................

Sure, taking ten years off emotionally sounds right. It's no different than men. If we were smart, we'd all add 10 lbs and remove a cup size to figure out what a woman looks like naked.

Posted

Sorry but I'm the exception. I'm in my mid-20's and behave it, and sometimes older if needed. Or younger too when the situation calls for it.

I don't believe women are any more mentally mature than guys. Some are mentally immature in their own specific way, differently from a male. Of course the genders are both wired differently.
