All modesty aside I have a pretty decent body that a 25 y.o. could be proud of, but my head looks my age....late 40's.

I'm open to advice on all aspects of dress but of immediate concern is a light casual jacket for around town. (not clubs or anything, just day to day stuff not at work)

My jean jacket and members only jacket are long gone.;)

I'm not looking to be a model or dress like a 20 y.o., just reasonable style.

My H looks great in his leather and suede jackets. How about a really great leather jacket? Brown or like a brandy color?

for whatever reason I've never owned leather, not sure why. It's now on my list of possibilities

Thank You:)

Maybe you associated it with a "biker" look or something? Not the case. I think it would look great on you as it does on my H (who is in his early 50's.)

There are many different styles of leather jackets. I guess I'd stay away from the ones with all the metal on it, you know? Just a simple, classic style with a good fit.

It's worth checking them out and you'll have it for years and years.

Oh and you're welcome.:)

One suggestion I have is to buy NICE jeans - not Levi's or Wranglers or anything like that. Go and guy a few nice pairs - they'll last forever and look great and will be so versatile.

As for the style, get dark colors and not anything tapered or "narrowing" around the leg. I hate it when guys wear chicken-leg jeans! Something with a little room around the calf and thigh is good.

I would also vote no sneakers outside the gym. If you're not actively participating in racquetball, jogging or football, then the sneakers should be home. Basically, don't look like Jerry Seinfeld is what I'm saying.

Go classic. Khakis, a t-shirt and a pressed casual shirt. You can dress it up or down with either a blazer (cashmere or harris tweed) or a bomber-style jacket.

A man always looks good in a blazer. And a guy in a blazer, jeans and a button down shirt can look really good! Glad to hear you don't have your jean jacket anymore!

I wear this at work but wearing a blazer anywear else feels too pretentious to me.

jeans are good. Nice Levi's :love::love::love: pair with a button-down or nicer Tshirt and a jacket. Leather for casual, blazer for slightly formal. And a good suit for really formal events.

something about a man in Levi's just makes me swoon ... I guess it's my age showing, because the designer jeans just make me think men are advertising for someone from the home team :laugh::laugh:

Deisel jeans look great on overy guy- I mean "every"!

Don't ever wear the pants too high- ever...

I agree with a button up man-blouse- then maybe a hoodie... with a blazer over top for fall. yes- running shoes will go great with that.

If you want to be casual- wear a logo t-shirt, hoodie and blazer. Jeans should be darker this season- distressed... but not too light.

Runners come in fasion styles now- so you can grab a brown or black pair that serves dressy as well as casual. (don't do white runners)... not that it isn't cool... but it's a teen-early 20's look.

Wear a cool belt to tie everything together. Belts are thicker and leather this year... have some detail to them.

Someone else was asking fashion advice not so long ago- and I downloaded pics to my albums in my profile.

Go to my profile- click on pics and albums and go to the male fashion shoot.

Hello? People, he was only asking about a jacket! You guys are so funny. You're completely re-doing his entire wardrobe.

Read his OP again.

Are you near a Nordstrom? If so, go there and head to "The Rail" section and asked to be dressed. They'll do a great job of getting you started. :)

I'm open to advice on all aspects of dress but ....

Just being thorough...

lol.

If you want to know about one part of it... mine as well go out- because it wouldn't look right to get the top all a "happenin'" and then have high waisted acid wash pants and white runners.

Oh yeah...sorry. I guess he was looking to be completely made-over.

I did say I was open to other advice and I really appreciate the feedback. The jacket was the most immediate concern.

Good feedback, thanks much!

I'm not near Nordstroms, is the men's wearhouse any good? What goes on once I walk in there?

D-lish you're very up to date on fashion! Will an older fella look good in latest trends or is there a way to "classic" up the look some?
