gummybear Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I miss the guys from the bay area. Dating in this new city sucks...the quality of guys suck. Anyone dated guys in LA and know what I mean?
carhill Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 "LA" is pretty big....what part? My wife never had issues finding quality guys in OC but that was a decade ago. You can still date guys from the Bay Area. It's only an hour away from most greater metro LA airports
westernxer Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 They say the same thing about dating girls in LA. LOL By the way, what type of guy are you looking for versus what you've been dating?
Jilly Bean Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Agreed. I think because LA is filled with so many transients and industry-types, it attracts such superficiality. When I lived there, I had serial sexual affairs, and wasn't actively seeking true love. This may sound hokey, but the people who seemed to have more depth, were those I met from the following: my college alumni association, religious events or neighbors. I think if you pursue your own interests, then you will find like-minded men.
CaliGuy Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 OC is just as bad. Everyone is trying to keep up with image there. SD has been much better dating-wise than in OC.
kashmir Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I'd imagine the guys there suck. As Bill Hicks once said: "The sooner L.A. falls into the ocean due to a major earthquake and is flushed away like the turd city it is, the better this world will be."
Konfuzion Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I say blah to that. I am from LA and I am a super nice guy, a gentleman in fact. Just like any city you have to weed the nice ones out from the bad ones. Sorry your having a hard time
carhill Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 OC is just as bad. Everyone is trying to keep up with image there. SD has been much better dating-wise than in OC. Whoa, my wife still has a lot of friends in OC (the inland part), but they're married
lonelyandfrustrated Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Everything in LA sucks! Whad'ya expect? (really, I only lived there for a year, and I was married at the time, to Loser #1, so I know nothing of the dating scene but for the most part, everyone there was rude and snobbish, except for one couple I met in Redondo)
Tony T Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Dating in Iraq sucks Yeah, usta be you couldn't even see the gals' faces.... Now that you can it's just as bad or worse.
4givrnt4gtr Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 what?! you mean to say that not everywhere men are looking for just a one night hook up/ fwb no strings attached thing????? Hm....and here I thought we wer all doomed... Ive had my issues with the dating scene, though never occurred to me that it was a location thing. Now I totally disagree with Kashmir....not EVERYTHING sucks here. I love this city, the weather and, sure you'll find your typical hollywood wannabes but there are some really great down to earth people as well. Its all about perspective.
westernxer Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Now I totally disagree with Kashmir....not EVERYTHING sucks here. I love this city, the weather and, sure you'll find your typical hollywood wannabes but there are some really great down to earth people as well. It's a great place, if you know how to fit in. I was born here, so my perspective is different from those who relocate after college. The main thing is to be yourself and work hard at whatever it is you're here to do. Along the way you'll find some cool people and some genuine dating opportunities to boot, after a little sifting here and there. Still, I've known people who aspire to the "LA thing." They're all posers, but this town is full of characters, which means that Hollywood will never run out of screenplays. People can complain all they want, but they have to remember they're not in Kansas anymore. Once they find the right fit, they end up loving it. Or maybe they made a big mistake in opting to be here. It happens, but life moves on.
