workerbee Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 A female co-worker made me a batch of spaghetti sauce (ostensibly as a thank you for lending her some DVDs). We have some history together (went out a few times), so am I correct in assuming that there's more to this than meets the eye? Gifts of food seem way more intimate than something a co-worker would give.
ed-205 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I'm thinking that after going out a few times you ought to be pretty well past this stage. Someone might use food as a way of getting to know someone, but beyond that it's simple kindness, IMHO. For my part, I simply enjoy cooking and sometimes bring in a batch of home made marshmallows or coconut meringue cookies for my co-workers just because I know they like them. If cooking is her "thing" then maybe you ought to try cooking a few meals together instead of going out?
Author workerbee Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 We went out to the movies a few times (as friends) earlier this year. I told her I was interested in going out (on a date). She said she wasn't interested in me that way. But now I'm confused about how she feels. If I was in her shoes, I wouldn't be bringing gifts to someone who had shown a romantic interest in me and who I had turned down, unless I was now interested.
Konfuzion Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I think your reading into it too much. If your confused then ask her. I brought an entire dinner into work the other night (and I don't want to sleep with any of the people I work with) Good luck.

These days, many single people who cook for another person are actually cooking for themselves and give a little extra away incidental to their effort and it makes them look good.
