gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I'm meeting someone from online for drinks. I don't think he's got an athletic build. Can he be a bit on the chubby side you think?
JamesM Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 If that is his exact measurements, then no he will not be chubby. I am 183# and 6'. No one calls me chubby by any stretch of the imagination. Yes, I could lose a few pounds, but they are well hidden.
Shygirl15 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Nah, not fat. My male friend is 215 pounds at 6'2", and I find him a little skinny.
Author gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Ahh.. sorry. Why sorry? hah. I'm 5'2 at 110 pounds so this guy will be HUGE compared to me. I know this sounds superfical (esp since I used to be fat when I was a kid and people made fun of me) but I really can not stand chubbiness in a guy I intend to date.

No, I did a double posting and didn't know what else to write. Anyway, don't you find it cute when a guy is a little bigger than you are? I do. I don't mind big guys as long as all the weight is stored in the right places.

Then don't date him, it's that simple.
whichwayisup Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Is he a nice guy? I doubt he's fat - Maybe he has some pudge, but that shouldn't matter if you like him.
Trialbyfire Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 gummybear, you had issues with the last guy being too skinny, now you have concerns about a guy being chubby at that height and weight. Why not go on the date and gauge things at that point? Even a guy, if not fit, who's 6'1" at 160 lbs, can be fat due to amount of body fat over a very small frame. Conversely, a guy who's 5'5" at 160 lbs can be one heap rock hard man, who's pumped, with a larger frame. Just relax and see how it turns out.
Star Gazer Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 The guy I'm dating now is 6'1'' and 215 and not at all fat. Thick, but in a muscular way. 180 might not be FIT, but it's definitely not fat.
Balthazar Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I am an inch taller than the guy you are going out with and outweigh him by 30 pounds! Of course, you can't call me thin....husky is more like it. I like my six pack protected by a thin layer of fat.
Shygirl15 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Ahaa! I didn't realize that was her. I remember that story very well. Gummy, why don't you just go and meet him then you'll decide for yourself?
zicke Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 No he's not fat! I'm maybe 40 pounds less 5'9 tall and am a size 6. I'm pretty skinny. My guy is 6'5 and 260 pounds---not fat.
Jilly Bean Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Ask him his body fat percentage before the date.
zicke Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Ask him his body fat percentage before the date. LOL. Yeah, ask him.
Jilly Bean Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 LOL. Yeah, ask him. I forgot to add a after my post. I was purely being sarcastic. GB - yes, he can be fat. He can be very small boned with absolutely no muscle tone, and just fat lying on top of his skinny bones. OR, he could have one of those tall and lanky bodies that has a HUGE pot belly. Or, he can be a built Adonis.

Maybe not massively muscled--but more likely regular.
Jilly Bean Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I was too! LOL Oh, I know! But, I was wink remiss, nonetheless. lol
Author gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Haha yea I'll know tonight when I'm meeting up with him. I know it's gonna be in only a few hours, but still, now that it's getting closer I'm getting a bit curious hehe. I guess a part of me just is a bit nervous about being disappointed... And it's certainly ironic that my ex to me was too skinny at 5'10 and 135 pounds. I have no idea how i got from one extreme to the other....
Trialbyfire Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Haven't you seen multiple pictures of him?
Author gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Haven't you seen multiple pictures of him? I only saw once pic and it was just from shoulders on up. At first I thought 6'1 and 180 pounds...that can't be fat. But in his pic his face was a bit meaty and so were his shoulders. So now I'm thinking either he lied or he's got a small frame thus is actually chubby. But the camera can add 10 pounds so hopefully it will be ok in person....
Jilly Bean Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I only saw once pic and it was just from shoulders on up. Bad sign. Generally signals a total fatty.
Author gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Bad sign. Generally signals a total fatty.
Author gummybear Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 I don't want a supermodel body (in fact, I prefer someone more normal looking) but I really can not do either total fatties or, in my ex's case, guys with smaller arms than me. By the way, I"m also nervous because this is the first guy I've dated from this new city I moved to. All other guys I dated were are from my previous city (all 5 of em)
Jilly Bean Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Im really only partially teasing you, GB. I am sure he will look quite normal and dashing even! Just don't put this pressure on yourself - its just meeting a new person - no expectations or investment beyond that. Have fun, and report back!
