Yes, that would probably be about right. So, for some men it would be affordable I suppose. For most, out of the question. The worst part is that most men are sincere, wanting to meet someone special, wanting to do the traditional route - but hands are tied when faced with this kind of money.

Possibly this tradition will evolve the dating ritual a bit. Just like so many other aspects of life , it is affected by the internet! The possibility of many dates is a good thing - but paying for each one? - Not so much.

My haircuts are $16, and they ALWAYS lay PERFECTLY from day one. I've seen gals with $40 haircuts that SUCKED. It's all about skill level of the stylist, not how many bills you pull out of your wallet.

Hun your hair is short and curly if I recall from your pics, and there ain't much a hairdresser can do for that so you can get away with paying $10 for a trim. My hair is long and straight and I usually get layers put into it and I have had the same hairdresser for 10yrs and I never pay less than $100 BUT he is SUPER talented and I know I will look smokin' hot when I step out of there, I don't settle for a trim I want to look smokin' hot when I splurge on seeing Andrew.

i wouldn't do a $10 haircut if you paid me! :D

I would say a typical dinner date at a decent restaurant including parking maybe some small after dinner activity is $150 on average. I was budgeting $1,000/mo to dating at one time.

Oh MY!!! That is REALLY over the top. :)

Did that work for you?

Personally I could never do a $1000 first or second or third date it would feel like way over the top and THAT would feel like I am using a guy for an expensive night out...

TC, it was 1K per month....if spending 100 per date, that would be 10 dates per month. For a man living in a big city and dating multiple women, sounds about right :)

TomCat - I think that the $1000 in reference was his budget for a whole month. If it was $1000 per date, gee...where is he located again?

Ohhhhhhh :o

Sorry I misunderstood then. Oooook that makes much more sense! Thanks for explaining that. ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Thanks again, I read it fast and read the after dinner activity was $150 and then he budgeted 1000 per month of the entire date. Was going to ask, not sure what after dinner activity runs $150 but I refrained for fear of the answer...:laugh: (his and hers rub and tugs perhaps?)

I

Why you would bother with layers in straight hair is beyond me.

Because it looks hot. Why else!?!?

Yes, $1k/month and that was probably between 6-8 dates.

That may seem expensive to some but it is all how you look at it. I am enjoying good food, wine and company with the chance of meeting someone who will knock my socks off. Everything is expensive, high end escort is between $350-$500/hr, if I did that sort of thing. Ask Spitzer, Miami is not a cheap place to date.

yes yes a month that makes perfect sense and it is NOT an extravagant amount of money for 6-8 dates I can spend around the same just on myself a month on entertainment if I am going out a lot so sure that is very reasonable.

You def have the right attitude, why not spend money on a good night out, you would do it regardless if you were out with your friends right so why not do it with some lady who's company you enjoy?

So, Art, some of us can look hot (as I am oft described) for very little cash. Others have to spend a lot of money to attain "hotness." So your list isn't a "one size fits all." Maybe the high maintenance types, which are probably also those who expect to always have large sums of cash spent on them.

$16 hair on a woman is ALWAYS going to look like $16 hair, sorry.

I'd much rather look high maintenance, than cheap. ;)

I kinda like pony tails myself. Ride 'em cowboy :D

what's with you guys and ponytails whenever I do the two braids thing for the gym guys ALWAYS tell me they love the look. What is it with pigtails and braids? Please share the inside scoop!!

Oh no way.

A gorgeous woman with great hair can get away with that - easy.

And guys tend to like women who do NOT look high maintenance. They don't tend to like the make-up, done hair, colored nail routine; it takes you too long to get ready, and you don't look like you are ready to have fun no matter what life throws at you. Eek - it's raining!

Can't speak for other guys but I'll give you the short version:

1. I love women's features and bone structure and pulling her hair back exposes that.

2. Neck nibbling fetish

3. All those extraneous hairs at the back of the neck

4. Exposed ears

My wife does fabulous up-do's on clients and I enjoy those as well :)Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Apart from the obvious schoolgirl connotations, I think pigtails perhaps have a certain ye olde rural feminine charm in men's eyes. Eighteenth century Scandinavian milkmaids. That kind of thing.

It has nothing to do with looking naturally beautiful I am naturally good looking, I don't wear a lot of makeup nor do I look super done up when I get dolled up but I do like to look my best. $16 at Top Cuts doesn't cut it and neither does getting outfits at Walmart.

You think Jennifer Aniston spends $16 on her hair? Yet she is the epitome of girl next door but hot to most men, she has amazing hair and that hair can not look like that for $16.

Now if you had the type of hair that not much can be done to it, then why spend $100 for a trim spend $16, by all means!

Women spend $$$ on styles not just cuts. Anyone can cut hair, but not many people can style a cut. I don't have to go see him every two months because my hair grows out of shape quickly, I can go for almost a year without seeing him and I know my hair will turn out every single time until then. That's why I pay the money I pay, and because I can. I can do different looks because of the style. I go to a salon where all the latest trends in London and NY are taken into account and they style accordingly, my guy knows my hair and I know that I will without a doubt walk out of there looking great. I can call him up and tell him "I have an event Thursday night I need you to make me look extra hot" he gets it, he will do it no questions asked. For that hour I am there I will get a massage, get to hear great music sip on a smoothy and walk out looking like a million bucks! To me those are $100 very well spent.

Wildly off-topic, but yeah, style/cuts are 45-60 in my wife's salon (not in a big city). The two disciplines are closely integrated and she hates sending a client home wet unless they're in a huge rush. Styling technique and product are very important. :)

Such knowledge is why I would not and never did mind paying for dates. Women I am attracted to generally pay attention to such details and I know the time, energy and money they put into it.

Shame that she took all that money from L'Oreal!!

Wow - you only get your hair cut every 12 months? That is amazing. No wonder you can afford to spend that much.

If I recall you either work or did or do work in correctional facility don't you?

I work in a corporate environment and I deal with a lot of clients, and work a lot of events where top notch executives attend, so presence is very important. I see nothing wrong with splurging on looking polished as far as I'm concerned....be it hair OR clothes.

That doesn't mean I don't shlep around in jeans and a T in my downtime because I do and I look just as good.

another off topic post...

I have dated many hair stylists in my time and the one thing I've learned is that you never have them do your hair if they are mad at you or you have broken up
