CaliGuy Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 FINAL UPDATE I called Marianne today to have a final talk about the job and the hours. She answers the phone but asks if she can get back to me in the afternoon; Of course, I said that is OK. She texts me about 1 hour go(It's Sunday afternoon here) and her text is as follows. Mr.Balthazar, as I am continuing to have problems with my schedule and I don't want to delay you, I would like to thank you for understanding and hope we will be able to work together in the future. I an glad we met and I wish you success. So, we won't be working together, but it seems she doesn't want any personal contact either. We were going to talk about the matter on Monday, but I called early Sunday afternoon because I am under a bit of pressure to finalize a schedule. I don't really think that created any problems though, did it? I guess I was probably imagining things or something else happened. Any ideas what may have occured and how to proceed? Leave it be. Don't call or initiate any emails to her. Let it go and see what happens. I probably wouldn't have called her on Sunday (that was a bit forward me thinks). Definitely there was interest on her side but perhaps her current situation with her S/O through things for a loop. Don't worry, you still have more interviewing to do
Jilly Bean Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Sorry, B! I think she was being friendly to get the job and didn't have any other interest beyond that. Remember - you were in the power position. She was playing the game to get the job offer. I wouldn't contact her again at all - I think she made it clear with her declining the position, that door is closed, and that her interest was strictly business.
Author Balthazar Posted September 15, 2008 Author Posted September 15, 2008 Thanks for the advice. I think you're right in that the Sunday call was a bit too much. I was working in the office and didn't think of it at all, but she was probably out with her BF and it may have affected her. I think she expressed definite interest but probably withdrew when she re-thought the consequences. Cheers,
Nemo Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 You should have taken her when she was offering. And boy oh boy, she was offering! Your procrastination has sucked you off into that dreaded black hole, the "friend zone." Anyway, it's a pretty good sign. Your mojo is obviously firing on all cylinders. You just need to apply your raw sexuality more liberally in future.

I have to become more unprofessional!
almost famous Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I don't think she was interested at all. Sorry.
monkey00 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Hey, it happens. Girls with bfs are the hugest flirts around, I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. They're messed in the head as usual.
Author Balthazar Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 It's OK. It came and passed. Just an unusual situation and I wanted to see what people on LS thought of it. CHeers,
