I'm considering having a chemical peel done to correct some blotchedy areas around my cheeks near the hair line. Has anyone had this done and what was the recovery like? What did you think of the results? I'm trying to plan it around some upcoming events and the holidays.

I met a woman a few years ago in her 60's ,I would guess, who had the most beautiful complection. I complimented her on it and she said she had recently had a peel. I wish I had seen her before hand!

I've never personally had one since my skin is absolutely stunning (kidding), but I know for a fact that you should do your research!

I've heard of others experiences (particularly friends of the family) who have gone well, but some have not gotten desired effects. Since the chemical applied to your face results in a sort of "scab", then you can always run the risk of an "oops", or something unexpected.

Generally it's pretty safe, but you should always be positive in yourself and everything you do, especially the way you look. Nobody is judging you except yourself

Hey IWWH, good to see you posting again. :)

I've worked with two woman who've had it done. One was very successful, the other moderately so. It's reliant on what you're trying to repair. Get a couple of professional opinions about whether it will help.

I'm no expert on this for certain.

As someone else said, do your research. I was told that they can do permanent damage, creating very blotchy skin. Please be very careful with this.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will get another opinion. They aren't that bad, easily covered by make up BUT I have found myself wearing makeup ALL the time now. It isn't that it makes me feel bad about myself, BUT I have always had a flawless compexion. (Except ofcourse for an event pimple a few important times a year) I thought I was doing well accepting the aging process but now that it is affecting my face it scares me.

I don't go out of the house without sunscreen on my face these days, I wish my daughter and her friends would take my advice but they are not listening. A dermatologist told me they were from sun damage which probably took place years ago.

Thanks again for the replies.

I haven't had a chemical peel, which I understand is a fairly heavy-duty treatment. I have had glycolic acid peels as part of facials at Mario Badescu in NYC. Why not start out with something along those lines and see what you think of the results? Maybe you don't need something as drastic as a chemical peel.

MB also has an incredible product line. I use their Glycolic Acid Toner and cannot rave about it enough. The stuff completely dissolves dead skin cells without abrasive exfoliating, and it's alcohol-free and totally gentle. Not only has it smoothed my old acne scars and sun damage, it's eliminated my recurrent adult acne problem.

Totally check them out... this place is one of the best kept secrets in New York. Your skin will definitely look better, with minimal cost and zero pain!

Thanks for the reply. I use a glycolic acid wash that I got from a near by day spa and I love it. They told me only to use it a few times a week. They also gave me a sulfer mask that is unbelievable. I can't believe all of the money I've spent on cleansers and such and this amazing stuff is less than $50 a tube!

What type of sun block do you use? I just can't find one that feels right on my face, other than my moisturiser which is only 15spf. I use a visor but I'm in the sun a good bit.

Thanks again, I'll check them out. IWWH
