Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 It was so nice, really. I shed a few tears. I had previously asked my mother to tell me when it would be, but not where or who was coming. She told me sometime in September, after Labor Day, but before the end of the month. So, today it was. It was so lovely I received really nice gifts for the baby, and every one brought me a pack of diapers! I received a lot of girly things since I'm having a girl. And my dream stroller also I'm suddenly Very excited and anxious for the baby to come out already. I have a little more than a month to go. Man does time fly!!! For thank you notes, I don't know what to do. There were a lot of people at my shower and I don't have the time to write out all these notes. Suggestions???
Jilly Bean Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 You HAVE to make the time to send thank you notes. They took the time to buy you a gift and attend your shower, the least you can do is send a note of appreciation. Anything else is in really bad form... Congrats on the haul and the baby!
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Oh, I certainly will. But any ideas or suggestions on cute notes to send to them?
Jilly Bean Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Gosh, I am sure if you do a google search, you will find cute little sayings to include.
jerbear Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Ideas on what to send them, well how close are you to delivery? If you are very very close, I would suggest adding a baby pic to the thank you. Add a "PS" like "PS: thank you for the stroller"
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Yeah, I was thinking a picture from an Ultra Sound but thought maybe that's creepy. Or her foot print when she's born? But this is over a month from now.
jerbear Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Yeah, I was thinking a picture from an Ultra Sound but thought maybe that's creepy. Or her foot print when she's born? But this is over a month from now. New Yorkers may have seen many things and yes, the ultra sound would be creepy!
Nemo Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Congratulations!!!! So pleased to hear that your baby is now clean. I hope it lasts, but, to tell you the unadulterated truth, I'm not that optimistic.
whichwayisup Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Wait until the baby is born, and when you are feeling up to it, send everyone a photo of the baby and a thank-you note for their gift. Hopefully your mom or one of your friends took note of who was giving what present..That makes it easier when writing the thank you notes. Also, noone expects the notes within the first 2 months, so don't feel rushed!
bentnotbroken Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 I like the foot print idea. That's really cute. Makes me remember my first shower.
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Thank you, BNB. I think that's what I might do Or maybe that idea for the announcement when she is born. I'm in love with the stroller. And all the little socks. I shed tears every time I look at a little sock. OMG so tiny!
bentnotbroken Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Thank you, BNB. I think that's what I might do Or maybe that idea for the announcement when she is born. I'm in love with the stroller. And all the little socks. I shed tears every time I look at a little sock. OMG so tiny! I have seen the new strollers and they are like Rolls Royce's to what I had years ago. All the new little things. And yes those little socks are cute. Enjoy them now, because they get much bigger:eek:My son wears a 14 and my daughter 91/2 wide. NOT too cute, but I love them anyways.
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Yes; strollers today are great! I remember the ones my mom pushed little sis and little bro around in. My family bought me a bugabo.
quankanne Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 ah, the tiny socks! When we held a shower for my niece, we made her put up a pair of the baby socks to her HUGE belly to show comparison! the notes? definitely reply back as quickly as possible, and let people know that you will enjoy using/have good use for their gift. Nephew's wife wrote the TY "from" the baby, which was a bit unusual, but fun. there are no real rules, just follow what your heart dictates. I think people just want to know that you find their gift useful ...
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 I created a card at www.designhergals.com. Here it is: http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?image=79677278dc1.jpg I have to order them as soon as my mother aproves...
whichwayisup Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 G, what do you mean until your mom approves? You do what YOU want to do since it was your baby shower, and people bought you gifts. Why not just go buy a bunch of thank-you cards, and take the time over the next 2-3 months to write a personal note, thanking each person for coming, how much it meant to you and thank them for their gift? If you do a generic message thanking them for their gift and not mentioning what the gift was, it kind of comes off as corny..No offense..
Author Gwyneth Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 I'm buying those (mom approved) and adding a personal note to each. There is room. She had to approve because some of her snotty--elite friend were at my shower and I don't want to embarass her or nothing (it's bad enough I'm an unwed pregnant woman by a MM...).
quankanne Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 yeah, and just WAIT until that baby arrives and everyone falls madly in love ... and believe me, they will, and then you won't have to worry about that.
