whattothink Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 What does it mean when a guy asks when your last relationship was? Do they want it to be long ago or recent?
BannaBee57 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Probably somewhere in the middle. Too long ago and he might wonder whats wrong with you. Too recent and he might wonder if he's just a rebound. Now this is only if the guy is interested in being in a relationship with you. In any case, he probably wouldn't be asking that question if he wasn't interested.
Author whattothink Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 So 6 months-ish would be appropriate?
xpaperxcutx Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 So 6 months-ish would be appropriate? Is that a lie? You can't lie about how long it was since you last dated, but you could just say you would rather enjoy your time with the guy than talk about your last breakup.
BannaBee57 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I was referring to what they WANT to hear. Not what you should tell him. Tell the truth. If he doesn't like it then thats his issue.
Tomcat33 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 How about the truth? Exactly, try honesty and let the chips fall where they may.
Author whattothink Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 6 months is the truth. I guess I was just wondering what they do want to hear. I've actually never been asked that question before so it caught me off guard.
Tomcat33 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Well I can tell you what they prob don't want to hear. I became single two days ago we were together for 10yrs. 6months is a good time that spells "it's safe"
Mahatma Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 We want the truth. There is no worse way to start off a relationship than with a lie.
Melrapuo Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 We want the truth. There is no worse way to start off a relationship than with a lie. Was about to say this. At some point you'd probably have to tell him the truth anyway, or you'll slip one day and screw up the lie you've told.
cheezy100 Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 a guy that I'm dating also asked the same question. I refused to answer. he also asked me how long was my longest relationship. I refused as well. I've only had a relationship once and it only lasted for 3 months. I seriously didn't want to tell him that. What if he thinks I'm not a keeper or that my relationships aren't serious? So I told him 6 months when he asked me that question again. so bad to lie...^_^ But definitely, he's interested in you.
LionLover Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 What does it mean when a guy asks when your last relationship was? Do they want it to be long ago or recent? I think that's neither here nor there, so just tell him. I agree with BannaBee57, too long ago looks weird and too recent you worry about being a rebound.
Lumpy Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 To me it wouldn't really matter unless it was a long term realtionship that has only been over for a couple days/weeks. That would throw up some warning flags.
bigmanpayne Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 What does it mean when a guy asks when your last relationship was? Do they want it to be long ago or recent? they want the truth. lol
carhill Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Oh, what innocents we are thinking women tell the truth :D
carhill Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Well I can tell you what they prob don't want to hear. I became single two days ago we were together for 10yrs. 6months is a good time that spells "it's safe" You know, they call me the rubber band man
