Laurenwho Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I'm back, wondering about the same guy my sister and her hubby have tried to set me up with. He lives four hours away and is BIL's close friend. I've been told countless times what a nice guy he is but I just don't see it. He may be someone who is good at FAKING that he is nice. But I think he's turning into an a**. I just don't understand him. He tells my BIL that he likes me and would really like to date me (BIL repeats this to me). I wasn't even interested in him until my sis and her hubby told me about him and what a great guy he is. My ex was a deadbeat when it came to spending time with me so it made this guy look really good. Plus he and I talked on and off for a few months about a year ago. He just confuses the h*ll out of me!! I understand that he might not want to date me because of the distance between us but now he is acting so hot and cold. He is on myspace a lot (he's 33) and he was leaving me sweet comments on there and sending me funny/cute text messages a few times a week. He was calling me and we'd talk for awhile too. About 3 weeks ago he asked me to go to this amusement park he's been wanting to go to. He told me he was going to invite my sis and BIL and the reason he said he was doing this is that he knows I'll go if they do and he really wants to see me. (he told me this over the phone). After we got done talking he sent me text messages for the next two hours. he told me he'd call me the next day to finalize our plans. He never called! I texted him to let him know I hadn't gotten ahold of my sister and BIL. He said he still wanted to go to the amusement park with me. We texted back and forth about a beach trip I had planned and he said he wished he could go with me. He was acting flirty and sweet. THe next day he posted a bulletin on myspace about how it irritates him when people will say they will call and don't!! (the same exact thing he did to me the night before!) For the next week he kept sending me cute text messages. I was having problems with my computer and I called him (what he does for a living) and he helped me fix the problem. I told him I felt like I was bugging him and he said "please dont' ever feel like u r a bother u can call or text anytime." The very next day he called me to ask how the computer was and how my day was going. I flirted a little by saying "well it was good before but a little better now that you called" and he told me that he really likes talking to me too. He called me the next day too. I went to this demolition derby (small town thing) and he texted me while I was there. I told him he'd never believe where I was at and he said try me and I texted him that I was at a strip club (as a joke) and he was like wow didn't see that one coming. I told him where I really was and he was excited because he likes derbys and asked me to send him pictures (on my phone) We texted for about two hours back and forth and I told him my fav part was when a car flipped over and caught fire and made a joke about how much I like violence. He sent me a cute text (pic) and it said glad 2 know we have several things in common. I think its great that you are violent lol" (part of the joke) The only weird thing was throughout our two hours of texting I referenced the strip club joke (that I was at one) and told him when he asked if I was having a good time- that none of my friends would buy me a lap dance. It was totally a joke- just flirting. Any guy I know would have said "ok, we need to go or I'll buy you a lapdance, or you have lousy friends". This guy TOTALLY ignored the reference at all. Did not act like I texted anything. As soon as I started texting about something else he'd reply. When he asked me to send him pictures (of the cars but he just wrote- send me pics) I jokingly texted back- of the derby or of the strip club?" And he didn't reply for a long time and then just wrote "suprise me". I sent him pics of the derby cars and he texted me back about how he wished he was there with me watching it. It was just weird because I have guy friends and all of my guy friends are a little flirty and we know its innocent but this guy is SINGLE and supposedly kinda likes me and I flirt with him and basically get shot down (he ignores it!!). I have not heard from him since that night. It has been about two weeks. I sent him a message on myspace telling him about going on vacation soon and that I'd call him from the beach to rub it in. I got NO reply. I know he's read it. I just don't understand why this guy is so hot and cold all the time. I mean he knows my sister and is close with BIL (and my sister) and I can't imagine if he is genuinely a nice guy that he'd ever deliberately hurt me but I just don't get why he will be so attentive and want to text and talk all the time and then just acts like I don't exist?? What is up with him?
