I slept with a guy for first time, condom burst and next day he revealed an ex girlfriend of his had died of AIDS...that was scary, obviously he'd been regularly checked out since her death and was a-ok, but it scared the s**t out of me. I'd like to think that before stopping using condoms that both me and whoever would both go and get tested together, I think it would be a sign of commitment from both parties.

The better way to go about this is do it together at the same doctor. You should do that asap. Saying it the way you did would sound really one sided and a huge lack of trust.
