Shygirl15 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Yea, you're right girl. It just grinded my gears when I read it. I actually usually agree with most of your posts shygirl. Oh, thanks, Buttaflyh. Finally..
Balthazar Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Gawd, you're as bad as von, speaking from an assumptive position of all men. Once again, come back when you've had the personal experience of being a female Exec... TBF, why don't you come back when you have experience of being a guy?
Trialbyfire Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 TBF, why don't you come back when you have experience of being a guy? My experience comes from speaking and interacting with guys who are attracted to women in power, where your experience is derived from guessing that all men think like you.
Lizzie60 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I can't believe some of the things I've read on here. I am overweight...and more than just a few pounds. Like the one girl said about being 5'5 and 135. You consider that overweight? OMG gimme an effin' break! That is so ridiculous. Some of the things posted on here are so insulting, sad and soooooooooooooooo shallow. Like the person who said all overweight ppl should see a therapist and find out why they eat so much. You can't judge every overweight person thinking all they do is sit around and eat all day and sit on their a.sses. I happen to have a medical issue that contributes to weight gain and it has been a struggle all of my life, while I watch ppl much smaller than me eat waaaaayyyyy more than I do and not gain weight at all. And on top of that, a lot of them are way more inactive than I am. I eat sensibly and I workout, while a lot of them do neither. Get a little education(and might I add a little common sense) before you start judging ppl solely on the way they look. You never know what kind of issues that person has and to think they are like some social rejects or just soooo unattractive/unloveable b/c of it is so freakin' shallow. And for all of you who talked about not getting dates b/c of it and all of that, I have NEVER had an issue getting dates. I have been in long term relationships with very good looking men and happen to be in one right now. And yes, he is fine. Get the f.u.c.k. over yourselves. I am the one who said obese and overweight people should see a therapist.. I'm not talking about 10-20 lbs overweight.. I'm talking about people who just can't lose weight because they just can't control their eating habits. A friend of mine was obese... she was eating and eating.. all day.. junk foods mostly.. once she got over 300 lbs... she knew she couldn't lose the weight by herself.. she just didn't have the will to do it.. She went for by-pass surgery.. paid by the system.. here in Quebec, these people get 'free' surgery... that was 2 years ago... At first, she couldn't eat much.. because her stomach was reduced to the size of an egg... but she kept stuffing it and stuffing it.. vomiting.. etc.. she just can't stop eating.. Last year, we were walking (our daily walk).. and she was p*ssed at the government since, NOW, the government require the obese person to see a psychiatrist/psychologist (not sure) before the operation.. They (gov't) realized that most people were gaining the weight back within 4-5 years.. because they just have the psychological issue with the food.. they need to solve that before they go for the intervention now.. It's about time the gov't wake up.. Now.. she is slowly regaining her weight back.. but she blames it on her hormones one week.. then the next week.. it's her thyroid.. then it's her time of the month.. then she feels down.. all excuses are good to stuff her face again... She watches TV all evening.. and eat.. then falls asleep on the sofa.. since the oxygen is not travelling well to her brain.. she falls asleep everywhere.. MOST people get overweight because they over-eat.. the hormones... blablabla.. that's bull cr*p.. in MOST cases..it's the food they ingest... period. Just look around.. who do you see on bicycle paths, in the gyms.. on walking paths... FIT people... rarely overweight people.. I tried to talk to my friend but she gets mad.. I just watch silently as she is putting all the fat back ... Does she has issues with food.. I bet.. big time.. do I think she needs therapy.. YES.. like most overweight people.. Do I have to make sacrifice to stay in shape.. you bet.. do I complain if I gain weight.. NO.. it's MY fault.. not the system.. not my hormones, not my thyroid.. I blame my 'brain' for not being able to control my temptations.. Do I like junk food.. yes.. big time.. Do I have to make sacrifices in order to eat 'healthy' YES... big time.. I do not like vegetables and fruits.. I would rather have a big burger and fries.. but that's life.. people have to make choices.. healthy or not so healthy.. simple as that.. most people prefer the easy way..
vonerik012 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Here we go again... TBF knowing how men think. Men are not attracted to power, sorry. They do not get hard when they see a powerful woman, or dream of sleeping with her. Looks are primary. Sure, if she is attractive and powerful, that is a different story. Actually powerful women turn men off more often than they turn them on. If that was the case, Hillary Clinton would be a sex symbol, along with Angela Merkel, and Oprah Winfrey. You won't find many men at all that will name them as one of the women they want to stick their thing into. Trust me. If given the option men would rather sleep with the cute bank teller, than any of the above. Women ARE attracted to power. Maybe you are confusing your female brain that is trying to land a CEO with the male brain, that could not care less. We are simply not wired that way. Maybe a small percentage do like women with power? A small percentage of men turn gay too. So who knows. I can make the statement "men have penises" without having to ask every man if he has one, and still be correct.
Jersey Shortie Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I can make the statement "men have penises" without having to ask every man if he has one, and still be correct. So can my 5 year old cousin!
Balthazar Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 My experience comes from speaking and interacting with guys who are attracted to women in power, where your experience is derived from guessing that all men think like you. So you are saying that I don't speak and interact with men? I am making all this up?
stoopid_guy Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 So you are saying that I don't speak and interact with men? I am making all this up? You do not speak and interact with all men, probably just your own circle of friends. There are men attracted to power, and even more attracted to the confidence that power brings (or maybe confidence brings power?) I can't say I'm attracted to power, but I am attracted to strong, confident ladies. (Hillary's not one of them, though.)
Balthazar Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 A circle of friends can number quite a few people. More than enough to draw statistically significant results. Furthermore, there are cases where you don't need statistics to tell you what reality is. Let's say I assert that most men like women; they are heterosexual. I do not know all men; just my "circle of friends". Yet, I'm pretty sure most are heterosexual. Concerning power, whether it is all men or almost all men is not really relevant. I will accept that some men are attracted to powerful women. However, the significant majority of men is attracted to other attributes in a woman; power is secondary. CHeers,
StartingOver07 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I will accept that some men are attracted to powerful women who look good Fixed. (Hope that's ok, B)

Walk Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I am the one who said obese and overweight people should see a therapist.. I'm not talking about 10-20 lbs overweight.. I'm talking about people who just can't lose weight because they just can't control their eating habits. The OP didn't ask about people who are morbidly obese, the question was about people who are overweight. http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/defining.htm * An adult who has a BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight. * An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese.
Trialbyfire Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Okay honey. Keep being delusional and shallow. You truly have no idea what you're talking about and you think you do which is even worse. Rock on. Instead of insulting Lizzie, why don't you explain why people are obese and potentially what can be done about it? Keep in mind that anything said, won't encompass every obese person. It's very possible the example provided by Lizzie, is just as valid as anything you might provide. Or is it that people stay obese because there's nothing they can do about it?
vonerik012 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Have there been cases of people who gain weight and become obese because they take in less calories than they burn off? And men are OVERWHELMINGLY attracted to beauty, youth, or what they find to be beautiful. Next time you go to the convenient or grocery store, see what type of magazines are on the rack for men to buy. Dozens of magazines with young, attractive, scantily clad women on the cover. The above is their dream, not a female CEO.lol As a fetish of sorts, sure, some men are attracted to feet as well. Some men might get hard thinking of a powerful woman, and disregard her looks? It's possible, although I have never heard of such a case in my life.
Jersey Shortie Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Not even the women in the magazines look like the women in the magazines. If that's what men want that I guesss no woman is ever good enough.
jerbear Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Not even the women in the magazines look like the women in the magazines. If that's what men want that I guesss no woman is ever good enough. That is the truth! I'm not attracted to the women in those magazines. Give me a natural beauty with her own flaws versus a tall skinny toothpick.
vonerik012 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Jersey, that is what men desire yes. Do they quickly forget that if they meet a cute girl, with a nice smile, that treats them well? Yes. My entire point is that men are attracted to things far different than "power". Men are visual. They will not trade looks for power. If a woman has both, then great. If that same women does not have power, the same men will be interested in her.
Jersey Shortie Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 That is the truth! I'm not attracted to the women in those magazines. Give me a natural beauty with her own flaws versus a tall skinny toothpick. Well that's nice to hear for a change. Instead of Vonerik's "no real woman is good enough ever for a man" style of thinking.
Trialbyfire Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Well that's nice to hear for a change. Instead of Vonerik's "no real woman is good enough ever for a man" style of thinking. I would seriously hate to date a guy who nags incessantly. It's so not masculine or attractive.
Tomcat33 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Okay honey. Keep being delusional and shallow. You truly have no idea what you're talking about and you think you do which is even worse. Rock on. Where do you get off saying that what she posted is delusional? She is BANG ON! I specially agree with this Lizzie: Just look around.. who do you see on bicycle paths, in the gyms.. on walking paths... FIT people... rarely overweight people.. Do I have to make sacrifice to stay in shape.. you bet.. do I complain if I gain weight.. NO.. it's MY fault.. not the system.. not my hormones, not my thyroid.. Tomcat33 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I would seriously hate to date a guy who nags incessantly. It's so not masculine or attractive. Seriously the guy sounds like a broken record, I wonder if he walks around his house repeating the same three lines to himself and walking into furniture?
JohnnyBlaze Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Original Topic: yes, I'm overweight. I admit it, I know what caused it, and I've begun to take steps to remedy it. It has affected my relationship life, as it does affect me psychologically (which, I'm sure projects). As I said though, there's a plan in the works. "Men Attracted to Power" Topic: TBF, although I'm not claiming to speak for all men, I agree with Balthazar. From my personal experience and from seeing my friends, we are attracted to power, but it's not a big drawing point in a woman. Men love power, not power by proxy. Riding the coattails of a chick with power shows the guy that the doesn't have any power of his own, which is something many guys just aren't willing to live with. If a guy digs a chick who has power, that's one thing, but chances are, he won't be after her specifically for her power.
Trialbyfire Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Seriously the guy sounds like a broken record, I wonder if he walks around his house repeating the same three lines to himself and walking into furniture?Well, this debunks the conditional reflex theory of Pavlov's, which included pain conditioning for his dog.
vonerik012 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Seriously the guy sounds like a broken record, I wonder if he walks around his house repeating the same three lines to himself and walking into furniture? Once again, Tomcat with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to add to a thread, other than rip on other posters.. Boring...

I totally agree with you Lizzie. I also had a friend who had gastric bypass surgery and she gained all the weight back within a year. She even had therapy because they require it here in the US. She just didn't want to do the work. I used to be obese I was 40 pounds overweight at my heaviest and I had allt he excuses my thyroid, my hormones, Something must be wrong with me I just can't lose the weight. Well it was my portion sizes. They were way big and I ate sweets everyday, muffins, scones, cupcakes. Plus I wasn't active. So I joined weight watchers got my portions under control. i eat sweets only 1 time a week and I exercise everyday. and it was relativily easy to lose the weight. What I see is the main problem is people have a healthy amount of denial. You hear it all the time. But I eat healthy, etc... Now I am in my normal weight range but I would like to lose 10-15 more pounds. As far as effecting my relationship. It did in the way that I feel so much better about myself now and I am in shape I am happier and not as depressed. My bf didn't seem to mind that much but I did.
