rod_in_gtown Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Ok, so I'm seeing this woman I met a couple of months ago. We've gotten close and physical over the past month and I want to get her a small present. Nothing too expensive or that screams "I want a relationship" (even though I do, I don't want her to feel it because she's not ready, as I explained in other posts). I don't know what her favorite flowers are, and they seem cliche, I know she likes dark chocolate and doesn't like steak, but loves hamburgers. Is not too much into vegetables except pesto (I've made her some on occasion), and in general likes less-than-healthy food. I have no idea how she stays so fit and hot (she is by far the hottest girl I've ever been with in my entire life), but doesn't seem to mind eating unhealthy foods. I digress. any ideas? we're probably going to go shoot some pool tomorrow at night, or maybe watch a movie indoors, nothing too "datey".
LionLover Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Wow you really seem to be in tune with what she likes already. She sounds a lot like me actually, I love chocolate & hamburgers, not big on steak or vegetables & I like the occassional junk food. But not knowing your girlfriend, flower wise I love sunflowers or anything that's bright & cheery Maybe bring her a flower & a hamburger lol.

That's also the tricky part, she's not officially my girlfriend and nor we want to be official for a while yet. (she's going through the divorce thing) I did think of a sunflower before and I'll just probably get her a couple so she can put them on a vase in her kitchen... I just hope she does not freak out thinking I'm being all boyfriend-like... Close friends sometimes bring flowers don't they?
Ronni_W Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Close friends sometimes bring flowers don't they? Not so much! Is your gut telling that she's more likely to freak out getting something, or to be really pleased? -- what's the FIRST answer that came to you?
LionLover Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Oh sorry I didn't fully read the post about whether or not you were actually bf/gf. I don't think she would freak out over that, I think that would be a very sweet gesture. Sunflowers aren't "heavy" gesture wise, if that's what your concerned with. Again, depending on her personality & how well you know her, I think something such as that would show her you are in tune with her. I personally have always loved sunflowers but not many people know that about me.
Toasted Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I agree. Flowers seem cliche - but we still love them. Try finding something like the sunflowers lionlover mentioned - instead of the typical roses. You said you don't want anything that screams relationship, so think consumable - something that can be eaten, read, or enjoyed would be a good option because they don't be there floating around forever. Food, flowers, membership to her favorite museum, a magazine subscription about hamburgers.
LionLover Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 a magazine subscription about hamburgers. OMG, if only they had a magazine subscription to hamburgers that would be fantastic! I wish I had a hamburger right now, all I have is a gay Zone Perfect Nutrition bar that probably tastes like hay.
Author rod_in_gtown Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Thanks guys, She's pretty easy going and we haven't seen each other in over a week, I think (gut instinct) is that she would think it's a nice gesture, plus I'm not giving her a dozen red roses. Maybe I'll buy her a basil plant at the local farmer's market (last time I got one she said she needed one for her apartment) and she does love basil. I do have another question but I'll start a new thread with that one.
Author rod_in_gtown Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Got her a pot with 3 species of basil planted on it. It's actually quite cool. We'll see how she reacts. I think she's going to like it.
