ShoeGirl Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I don't even know where to put this... it's just entertaining to me... Back in March I met this guy and made out with him then found out that he was married so that ended that. He claimed that he was getting a divorce but I still didn't want to be in the middle of it. He turned out to be an old high school friend of one of my pretty good friends, Mike. I just got a new job, I was talking to one of the managers last week and she was calling me from her cell phone as she was meeting her friend to drive home to her high school reunion, I recognized the voice in the background but I didn't think anything of it. On Sunday I was hanging out with Mike who mentioned that he just came back from his high school reunion. Mike and I grew up in the same town and it came up in my interview that my new manager and I were from the same town as well. So I asked Mike if he knew my manager, he got a really strange look on his face and wanted to know how I knew her. I told him that she just hired me, he started laughing and said that I should probably not tell her that I made out with her husband. The guy that didn't tell me that he was married back in March is married to my new boss, the one that told me that he was getting a divorce still hasn't gotten one, in fact she still wears her wedding ring. I couldn't stop laughing when he told me, what are the chances that I would start working for his wife??

I would feel uncomfortable. My old boss, who was my moms boss too, was (or is?) interested in her. He's married though. Supposedly not happy, but so wrong in seeing or interested in other women. I go around about it with my mom alot.

Oh I have no intention of telling her, I have not talked to him at all since I found out he was married, I told him that he was an idiot for thinking that I would continue to pursue a relationship at all after he told me. He called me a few times after that but I never called him back. He has moved back to our hometown, his wife is here and the only people that know about it are me, him, Mike, and a few other people that were at the bar Mike works at because he has been giving me crap when I have been hanging out down there. I doubt she will find out but if she does I will just have to tell her what happened and hope she doesn't want to kill me. I have talked to Mike about it and he doesn't want her to find out so I think I am safe from anyone telling her. It's just a little un-nerving going into a new job knowing that I made out with her husband even if it was almost 6 months ago and I had no clue that he was married at the time. I would feel a lot worse if I had continued seeing him after I found out he was married.
Art_Critic Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 You need to be careful of him.. When he finds out you work for her he is most likely going to start some shiot about how you came on to him in order to nip any problems he may feel are going to come out of you working with her.. Carefu .. watch yourself for the knife in the back from him...... Even though you did nothing wrong remember that he has his marriage to protect and you coming on to the scene will put him in defensive mode...

I thought about that, I think I am pretty safe right now. He is living 300 miles away right now and the only way he would find out that I work for her is if Mike were to say something, which he has said he won't do to me, she has no way of knowing that I have ever even met him. If he moves back here or something happens I will have to figure out what to do but I think Mike will help me if it were to come down to that, but hopefully it won't.
stoopid_guy Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 On the other hand, you have something in common with the boss. You can talk about "was he a good kisser?" "Does he need to work out a bit more?" Etc.

mental_traveller Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I wouldn't laugh too much, unless you find the idea of having to look for a new job amusing! Seriously, don't expect to last long at this job. You might get lucky and he might keep quiet about it, but there's at least a 50/50 chance IMO that he arranges to get you fired. Also I find it a bit strange that you seem to have no empathy at all for your boss whose being cheated on.
