Ariadne Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 This is a no-brainer for me. Nope. I would not have him. You just denied your son to prove a point.
Lizzie60 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 We have to look at some celebrities.. *cough* *cough*... some were raised by single mothers : Tom Cruise, Bill Cosby, Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Bill Clinton and Jack Nicholson were raised by their grandparents.. It's a better recipe for success than two dysfunctional parents.. or even just one.. out of the two... is not good enough..
Author MarieD Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 So Sorry Touche - But denying your son, I think was a HORRIBLE thing to do, regardless if he had a father or not. He is STILL ur son, now THAT really bothered me!! What kind of mother would do something like that JUST to prove a point?? WOW!!

He is STILL ur son, now THAT really bothered me!! What kind of mother would do something like that JUST to prove a point?? WOW!! See having two parents don't prove anything.. Better have one great than two average... I will always stand by that.. never mind what people think Marie.. you go with what is BEST for you..

I know people won't agree with my decision, but I will do what is best for me!! I REALLY like you Liz!!! Touche, I'm sorry but I would NEVER deny my child regardless of how he/she was conceived. Even if it was by a malicious rape, I would NEVER do what you just did!! Some people just should not have kids!
Touche Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You guys are crazy with your rantings! Who said anything about "denying my child." (You're right some people have NO business having children. Sheesh...it helps to have a BRAIN and intelligence when raising one, you know.) Ok, so let me be clear, since some of you didn't get it the first time: It wouldn't BE my child. I shot down the whole premise. If the child were raised by ONE parent, it's not going to be the SAME child. Why don't you guys get that? Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I still say it's wrong and a selfish thing to do. Society is really going downhill. It's sad.
lovestruck818 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 ok this answer is simple!! If I met a man that didn't accept my baby, than he IS NOT the one for me! My Mr. Right, will accept me AND my baby, no matter how I he/she was conceived. but then you have to accept that maybe you wont have anyone- as like I said, a man may not want to date a woman who already has a child.
Lizzie60 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 but then you have to accept that maybe you wont have anyone- as like I said, a man may not want to date a woman who already has a child. then the hell with him!!!! who needs a man like that anyway..

Lizzie60 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 yes but their mothers were probably with the father at one time...how many of those stated above actually went to a sperm bank? nope.. some of them actually were left before they had the baby... behind the sperm bank are 'real' men... I'd rather go to a SB than go with just any jerk out there.. safer IMO... plus you get to choose a lot of stuff.. it's like a 'menu' awesome..
Touche Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 OMG! I just saw that list with the celebrities raised by single parents!!!:lmao: Was that a joke? Is that your criteria for good people? Wow. I guess I have different standards.

Yeah maybe you get to pick stuff from a menu but that wont tell you whether he's a nice person or not.
Author MarieD Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 but then you have to accept that maybe you wont have anyone- as like I said, a man may not want to date a woman who already has a child. I DON"T need a man!! If I never find Mr. Right, that is fine, I accept that!! But like I said before!! I can't accept not having kids. Having kids is way more important to me than having a husband! If he doesn't want to date me cause I have kids, then HE needs to grow up or accept us BOTH! Maybe I won't want him cause he was never married & had kids!!! My Mr. Right, will accept us both! Who needs a man anyway! I'm happy single!!
Touche Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Yes.. for that.. I am sure.. And I'm positive! (Thank god!)

Lizzie60 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 And I'm positive! (Thank god!) huh? positive.. HIV???
hotgurl Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I have to agree with you here!! We know exactly who we are, no one telling us how to raise our kids, no financial worries, family & friends who support & will love the little bundle of joys to no end!!! Touche - sorry but i can accept never getting married, but can't accept never having kids. Marriage is not MY determining factor of reaching my dream as a mom!! Everyone has their own opinion right?? I went to school with some girls that got 2, 3 or 4 abortions. Some do consider that murder, is right. Its their lives though, they have to live with it every day. This is my life & bringing up a child in a 1 parent home is my choice rather than have no kids at all!! NO WAY, NO HOW can i accept that! I had to laugh at the bolded part. if you are living with your parents you are going to be told how to raise you child I'll put money on it, I have stayed out of this thread but I have experience being a single mother and living with your parents. It is not a picnic.
Author MarieD Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Also , who's not to say that i find a man, get married, have kids, get divorced?? Then i'm in the same boat, single with kids!! So whats the difference if i start of being a single mom OR get divorced?? If a man doesn't want to date me because I have kids, that's his problem & I don't want him!!
hotgurl Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 OMG! I just saw that list with the celebrities raised by single parents!!!:lmao: Was that a joke? Is that your criteria for good people? Wow. I guess I have different standards. I know Tom Cruise right. crazy!
lovestruck818 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 aaaahhhh aaaahhhhhh... come on.... Seriously not trying to give you or Marie a hard time, but even though they do scan the men they get thouroughly as Marie pointed out...if they've never committed a crime, doesn't mean they wouldn't. I would be terrified that my baby would inherit some traits or a personality that is destructive. You can say a man has a clean record, but that doesn't account for what yould happen in the future.
Touche Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 huh? positive.. HIV??? Uhm, no. But then, I don't sleep with men for a living. But really. Look at that list of people mentioned. One is more frucked up then the next one. I would have given those names as an example of what can happen when a child isn't raised by both parents! I guess to some people those celebrities represent normal and well-adjusted people. Go figure!
Touche Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I know Tom Cruise right. crazy! I know. Right? I mean, wow! He's considered (among some) to be a well- adjusted balanced individual? Crap. If my son turned out like that, I'd consider myself a failure as a mother. (Oh and no. Before some of you jump out and say he makes millions. I don't consider how much money a person makes a measure of their success as a human being.) He's a complete and utter whack job.

My cousin is a screw-up- got involved in drugs @ 15, got arrested, tried to kill himself, stole from all of us...and my aunt & uncle are great parents and wonderful people. People are who they want to be ansd you can't blame anyone's parents for that. Cruise is a jerk b/c of who HE is- not who his parents are.
