Just heard something disturbing about my middle child.

After my oldest son turned about 4 years old, my (then) wife and I were in a part of town where we hadn't been for several years, it was also the area near where I grew up. We decided to stop in at the fast-food place where I got my first job as a teenager, although the place had changed owners years before.

As we pulled into the parking lot, my son pointed to a particular parking spot, and said,

"That's where I used to park my car!", as plain as day.

I was totally stunned! My (then) wife asked me what was wrong, and I told her. When I worked there, the restaurant was managed by a good friend of mine who was later killed in an auto accident due to faulty brakes. I always felt especially bad about it, because I offered to fix his brakes for him, but he refused because he didn't want to put any more money into the old car.

THAT was "his" parking spot, and nobody else dared to park there,.... ever!

My theory is that until a child reaches the age of about 7 or 8, the Neocortical region of their brains haven't yet developed well enough to completely filter out the information that streams into the lower regions from what Karl Jung referred to as the "Universal Subconscious", which is (for lack of a better explanation), a sort of "wifi" that connects the lower functions of our consciousness to each other, as well as the rest of the universe.

I think your little girl will be fine.

I don't believe this is skitzophrenia ( spelling ), that illness involves some bizarre speaking and reports of audio and visual sights/ hallucinations . I do believe your child has a unique gift. If left to be chastised the child will learn its not okay to talk about the dead.

She sees something or someone that we cannot. I would develop this strong phenomena. Ask her what she sees. If she can in fact see the dead it must be frightening unless the dead spirit has become her friend. Could she be lonely ? Could this be real ?

Many without psychic abilites will have a hard time understanding. I have abilities . I read people . Good or bad vibes I read them with no choice in the matter. Had it all my life.

Learn everything you can . This child could be a great asset to the crime solving division in her later part of life.

When I was a kid, my mother had undiagnosed schizophrenia - a lot of which was put down to "a precious gift" of hearing voices. It wasn't, once she was diagnosed, it was medicated and the voices are still there, just not telling her to do "actions" anymore.

Maybe, when I was small I picked up on this too? I had midnight wanderings, and although it sounds funny now, I actually have a very real-life memory of the Incredible Hulk breaking down our kitchen door and chasing me up the stairs. Now I KNOW that didn't really happen. But it shocks me how vivid that memory is - it's unbelievable how far-reaching the imagination of a child is.

I'm not saying your mother is feeding her this. it could be anything. I think it's just your daughters lovely age, when her life is full of magical, mystical things and it may be hard to for her to define reality sometimes. She'll be fine. Check that every other area of her life is fine, that she's not watching too much TV at your mothers house and that her sleep isn't being disturbed so much that she's in a waking-from-sleep consiousness when she's rambling.

A check from a doc and the voice recorder will probably set your mind at rest and do no harm wahtsoever so maybe that's a good idea. I'm sure she'll be fine though!
