The intensity of a Man's orgasm actually decreases over time when he is having sex with the same partner. The intensity of a woman's orgasm increases the more she has sex with the same partner. It is also easier for a man to seperate sex and love than it is for a woman to. However, the human race have evolved enough to know that our species is not threatened and it is not necessary to go **** everyone in sight. So while there is some truth to your theory it is not a green light to cheat on someone you promised monogamy to. There are plenty of women who cheat and act like "horndogs" as well. Ask yourself: from an evolutionary standpoint, what was the best way for a caveman to give his genes the best chance of being propogated as successfully as possible? Impregnate as many healthy women as possible, giving preference to those who appear capable of bearing and caring for a child. This goes to breasts, hip-to-waist ratio, long hair (demonstrating good health over many seasons...) etc. From that same standpoint, what was the best way for a cavewoman to accomplish the exact same goal: to give her genes the best chance of being propogated as successfully as possible? Get pregnant by a suitable (strong, virile...) man, and take damn good care of the child, possibly by convincing the man to stick around and help protect, hunt, etc... ( Actually, the ideal case would probably be to get impregnated on the side by the strong guy - good, strong survival genes to combine with yours and pass to the child - but to continue to trick the nice, caring, nurturing guy to stick around and help with the baby... ) If you think about it, that explains a lot of our drives, in broad strokes. I don't draw the OP's same conclusion that boorish behaviors in modern times are "not our fault," however, as I believe we have hundreds of years of enlightenment and thousands of years of intellectual development that allow us to CHOOSE our behaviors along dimensions other than pure irresistable drive. However, I think it's silly to deny the existence and the vestigial strength of these drives that got us through millions of years of evolutionary development as a species, and brought us to where we are today. The cavemen who didn't have a drive to impregnate multiple women - hey, their genes got weaker and weaker in the gene pool, relative to those who did. The women who didn't have a drive to reproduce and nurture their offspring, their genes got diluted, too. Our species would not have survived pre-intellectual evolution otherwise. Final reiteration of my earlier disclaimer - I present this as an explanation of our instincts and drives, but I do not submit it as an excuse for poor or boorish behavior. (And you'll note, in my explanation, there is a drive toward what we now consider to be poor behavior on the parts of both men and women...) I didn't invent these theories... (Late Edit - I finally read the article at the link CommitmentPhobe provided, which proves that I didn't invent these theories - right down to the more recent suggestion that it might confer an evolutionary advantage for a woman to mate with more than one man, but to still try to maintain a "committed" relationship with a provide who will stick around...)
ed-205 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 See, the city where I live in, a lot of the women are are stuck-up, materialistic, not willing to give you their time of day unless you're willing to buy them something or if you're some model looking guy that they can date just because they want to make their friends jealous that they're with some "hot" guy. You give away too much information! Now we all know you live somewhere in the western hemisphere!
Sks Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Alright ladies and gentleman, I honestly didn't know where to post this so I'm putting it in the general but I had a co-worker of mine (female), come up to me all mad and just smack me on my arm. I asked her what that was for and she asked me the famous question, "Why are men such horndogs?!?" From the tone of her voice, I figured something had happened to her that brought forth this question. I sat there and simply explained to her my belief on this and she seriously couldn't say anything back to me. She told me, "Wow, well then screw nature!" After I explained to her what I think the deal is. Now, sitting here bored at work, I figured I would share it with you all and see what you guys think. It's simple and short. Why men are such horn dogs and are constantly thinking about sex? Now, I don't want this to raise a religious argument about anything because I'm religious myself to an extent but I'm taking the scientific approach to this so please, no flaming and/or unnecessary comments that will spark an argument based on religious beliefs. Thanks! I think logically all the time and make rational decisions based on logic. When she had brought this to my attention, it dawned on me that we as humans, are put on this planet for whatever reason there may be. Regardless of the fact, it is programmed in our nature to want to reproduce and multiply to become the dominant race, which we have. Now, this makes much more sense when you think about ever since mankind first took a step on land. Fast forward throughout evolution and now you have this immensely evolved species that is advanced, sophisticated, and aware of it's own habitat. The problem is that we've forgotten about the fact that we're built to multiply, utilize the resources until there is no more, and move on. Since we've become so overly populated and advanced with a lot of stuff to keep us entertained and occupied, we've forgotten about the fact that we're put on this planet to reproduce; therefore, we walk around with this urge to want to hook up with women, completely oblivious to the fact that we're naturally just made that way. And as for women, just please try and understand, hehe! Anyways, this isn't no noble prize discovery or theory, just my perspective as to why guys are horn dogs. IT'S NOT OUR FAULT HEHE You are correct, one the most basic urges is reproduction. Wanting to reproduce is natural. People are animals with big egos.

Because we never know when we'll have access to it, we want it all the time. Women know all they have to do is ask and we'll give it to them. Not fair. Guys, turn down your girlfriends for a week straight every time she tries to initiate and watch what happens. You think WE get frustrated from lack of sex? Just wait and see what happens when you flip the situation. Very true. Learning to say no to a woman gives a man a lot of power. It is a very liberating thing.
