1. How long did you and your spouse date for before getting engaged?

2. What were your ages at the time that you got engaged?

Posted

1. a year

2. 30

First marriage - Dated: 4 years. Ages: 23/25 (married 3 yrs)

Second marriage - Dated: 4 years. Ages: 33ish (for obfuscations sake :p)

I'd like to know (if you reply) if you're happily married or not.

We dated for about 8 months. We talked about getting M a few months b4 that but he actually proposed w/ my ring 8 months after met. We were M 9 months later. I was 23 he was 25. I wish I would have waited a year or two longer b4 we made that big step. I was too young to get M. I had my fun dating around. I was ready for a CR but don't think I should have M so young.

Ya know.. I wonder about that. Year four hit, and presto - proposal time.

Dated for 10 months (three of which I was in Marine Corps boot camp) proposed after that when I was on leave (I was 18, she 16).

Married at 25 months together (me 20, her 18), but only spent 8 months of that time physically together due to my military commitment (stationed across the country and one tour in Iraq). Got married when I returned from Iraq. Have been married 4 years on October 16th, but marriage is falling apart, getting ready to separate. Everything's fine on the surface, but it's more like we're roommates who have sex, no love (that's how I feel).

1st M- I was 22, he was 28, we got MARRIED after 24 days, and were together 7 yrs, and had a child.

2nd M- 37 and 39. Dated SIX years, got married, and he split 3 weeks later. Anulled

Current. I'm 40, he's 24 we got engaged after about a month and plan to marry soon.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I was at Camp Fallujah when Fallujah was the "in" place for the insurgents to be at (2004). I was a computer network tech though, so I never left the base, just took incoming rocket and mortar fire.

No I am actually not married and never have been. I've been with my current bf for 3 years. I am 30 and he is 31. I was just wondering what the norm was. My guess was that people who are older when they start dating (late 20s or early 30s) tend to get engaged within a year or so and those who are younger (18 to early 20s) tend to take their time and date for 4 or 5 years before getting engaged. I must say I was pretty surprised by the responses.

Together for about 2 months before he proposed.

Engaged 10 months before we got married.

I was 24 he was 26 when we got engaged

  1. Dated for five years. Explained I would not even consider marriage until we were at least 25 years old.
  2. 25 years old. Proposed on my 25th birthday celebration in front of a train full of strangers…

First marriage: Dated (on and off) for 6 years before we got married. Married for 3 years. I was 30 and he was 49 when we married.

Second (current) marriage: We became engaged after one month of dating and married seven months later. We were 33 and 40. We've been married for 13 years.

wrote back and forth for six months, then started a torrid long distance back and forth thing for another six months before i relocated and moved in with him. after living together about six months, we started talking about marriage, but hadn't made any official statements or plans about it; marriage and kids was an abstract 'thing we're strongly thinking about doing in a couple years' kind of thing. now we've been living together about two years, so dating three altogether, and biology stepped in with a little surprise so we're expecting a baby in november. a couple of weeks ago we decided to get married, currently shopping for rings and talking about ceremonies, whether to elope quickstyle before the bambino comes or wait a year, etc.

i'm 33, he's 38.

We dated 4 months before we got married. Engaged within a month and a half.

I was 23, he was 36.

Why would you say such a thing?

Look at my "stats." Normally I would agree though. But you need more info to predict doom and gloom don't you think?
