pandagirl, sounds like you've beat that ex craving and figured out when it affects you most. That's a good thing.

Yes, high iron foods, like red meat, broccoli and spinach are perfect for those times. I also crave the above and chocolate.

Thanks Kamille. You made me realize why lately, my PMS has been worse than normal. I've cut back on meat in general and rarely, if never touch chocolate or anything with high sugar content. Maybe I need to take some iron pills during that time.

I wonder why chocolate is so commonly craved by pmsing women.

I get pms really bad too I feel down and I get migraines during that time.

I went on the pill - I'm not even involved with anyone but I was having bad breakouts and the derm thought it would help (and it has) and no period all summer (I'm on a monophasic and I just skip the inactives) and no pms- only side effect - bigger boobs, which is a good thing in my case!

I got no PMS and wonderful periods...until I started the pill...and to boot, it made me crazy, kept me thin but made me crazy...now I am on a new pill and this one had made me gain 10lbs in 3 weeks. UGH, PMS is the least of my problems...I'd much rather be thin & crazy than fat and sane.

I think it's a bit over the top to say it ruins lives. But I will say that it's probably never made anyone's life better.

it definitely can put a damper on a relationship...when I was on my old birth control pill I would PMS all the time...my boyfriend would get pissed and annoyed at me b/c I would cry and be psychotic and emotional all the time. After I stopped that pill, our relationship improved drastically, as if that never happened.

Whenever I see the word PMS I think of my wife!

How it used to be anyway. She suffered from PMS too, and guess what, her emotions got taken out on me! Not fun!

Anyway I think those days are behind us, hope so anyway. I see alot of different people saying different things about food choices, and maybe everyones body is different, but I know when my wife started eating fruits and veggies more and only grilled chicken and certain fishes it made all the differences in the world. Plus she had a real hard time digesting hambuger meat and steaks too.

One thing I take that helps take the edge off if Evening Primose Oil. It's great, also makes my period very regular.

That's funny Kamille, I've been a vegetarian for 12 years. I never really thought about my lack of red meat affecting my mood!

Eat lots of lentils the week before your period and ask your doctor about iron supplements. See if it helps. It sure does help me.

I eat a lot of fish too... maybe there is something there: the omega 3 or something. Surf and turf is the new Midol.

It is true that iron supplements gave me gut rot when I started taking them. I always have salad after eating red meat (and try to keep the meat portion reasonable), which seems to help me digest it. Plus, I try to buy organic meat from local farmers (buffalo meat is my new favorite).

Evening Primrose is good and I have tried black cohosh too. That is more for like menopause symptoms, but it can work for pms too.

I cut back on caffinated drinks. Exercised more, ate more fish, and tried to stay away from lots of refined sugars.

There is alot of iron in leafy green veggies too. Or iron supplements might be good if your iron is to low.

Kamille, I would love to try buffalo. I heard it was low in fat if any at all, and good for you!
