Tryng2Trust08 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Ok, I have been seeing this guy for about 4 months now. I have asked him just recently if he was dating other girls, talking to them, etc...just because I wanted to know where we stood. He said no, I mean, hes really not going to admit it anyway, but he hasnt showed any signs of seeing someone else. Anyway,we have had jokingly conversations about sex with other people and I asked him if he would be upset if I slept with someone else? joking because I wouldnt do that to him. And then he went on to say he wouldnt think it would be right for me to sleep with another guy. Then I told him my friend asked if I was dating someone and I said yeah I have a friend and we hang out and have fun. And he said U said "A friend" and I was like yeah, and he laughed. So, does this mean he's my boyfriend?? How do I know?

Have you two established whether you are in an exclusive relationship or not? 4 months is pretty long to be dating someone, are you interested in going out with other guys? Is he interested in going out with other girls? Why did you say you had a friend who you hung out with? Why didn't you just say "yeah I've been seeing someone for 4 months." All this passive-agressive stuff is not going to give you the asnwers that you want. Flat out ask this guy what the status of your relationship is. You could even start by saying that you didn't know what to say when your friend asked you if you dating anyone, so you were just curious where you guys stand.
Author Tryng2Trust08 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Ok, yeah, maybe my post was a little confusing...I will give you a little background on myself. I was married for 5 years, been divorced for 2 years and this is the 3rd relationship since being divorced. I don't really know how this whole dating thing works and it confuses me. I have asked him if we are exclusive and he says yes and he has no interest in dating anyone else. He has made really big efforts in our relationship and is willing to do a lot of things for me, anything I need he is there. I dont know why I told my friend he was a friend of mine, it's obvious there is more there, but I call him a friend. And I have even made a comment to him and he said " We are dating, thats what this is,lol. I just get confused sometimes, so I should flat out say" ARe you my boyfriend?" I have no problem asking this, I can be forward. He has also made comments to me that we are just chillin.....

If you have decided to be exclusive and if you have been seeing him for 4 months, then yeah, he is your bf I would say. I'm curious though, why is it so important to you that you know for SURE that he is your BF? Does the title mean something to you? Would the title of him "being your BF" bother you?
AriaIncognito Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I think it's pretty obvious that he is your boyfriend. Question is, do you want him to be? Seems like you're hesitant to admit being together for some reason... Just food for thought.
Author Tryng2Trust08 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 No, the title is no important to me at ALL and it wouldn't bother me. He has just made a comment to me recently that he can't plan always plan his weekends around mine anymore(the weekends I don't have my kids). I questioned it telling him it bothered me and he said It was a joke and he has always made time for me, which he has, he always has made a huge effort in seeing me. But then that night he said that kind of is a lot of pressure to put on the other person. So, im questioning if he was joking and not willing to have this committment to me. I think he was a little confused when I told my girlfriend he was a friend and I laughed and he questioned it.like, Im your friend, huh? Yeah I think I will ask him when we talk and Im sure he will laugh and say Yeah I am your BF or something, lol. Thanx 4 the advice.
Author Tryng2Trust08 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah, to be honest, the past month I havent been the happiest with how things are going...I think he is afraid of a committment or maybe I'm reading way into things, I have a tendency to do that. I have been back and forth with him a lot, of course not letting him know this, but Im thinking he's sensing it. He even asked me yesterday if I still want to hang out? Of course I do, I sometimes just wish things were a tiny bit different with us.
