thought the male dancers were all gay. Took him to the Symphony once - that was painful as he fell asleep

You could try blocking his number. Obviously him calling you right now isn't doing you any good, and you need to focus what can be rather than what was.

Well, he actually called me from a number that wasn't his cell, so that won't work.

He's really not harassing me, X. It was the first time we spoke since he left town.

Eh, Im just focusing on not buying a one-way ticket to Bitter Town. Ever been there? It's not like the brochure, let me tell ya.

I've been through my fair share actually and it's not exactly what you call a vacation.

Jilly,

the drunk call is not the worst part. He was hurt, he is still hurting. I guess, had he simply sobbed and asked you why, your reaction would have been different. Because that's normal.

But getting engaged to another girl to get back at you, is ridiculous and very cold. He has the audacity to call you cruel? Maybe send him a mirror as a wedding gift. Make it one of the distorted ones, as he isn't terribly bright. A mirror to reflect his inner beauty.. Sheesh.

I really pity his fiancé. Obviously, it's not a bright decision to accept a proposal on the phone, but who knows? Maybe she was crying her heart out for 2 years, waiting for him. :( Poor girl.

You know, Jilly, he mightl blame you when he ends the engagement. With a line like "I don't know what happened, but I think Jilly crippled me emotionally".

Wow, I don't know what to say, JB. I had a feeling you'd be hearing from him when you didn't call him and freak out after the announcement.

He's obviously really hurting, but getting engaged to someone else and messing with her heart is just cruel, selfish and immature. Jeez, I was cheated on and I didn't even come close to doing anything that pathetic. Where is his dignity?

I'm sure you didn't behave perfectly in the relationship, but it doesn't seem like anything you did deserves this. I think, at this point, if he called you again I would just hang up the phone.

Anyway, I hope you're doing ok.

I've only followed bits and pieces of the saga, but why did you guys break up?

Yeesh - you're right. And it will be my luck, that down the chain, my next bf will be a distant recipient of the Baller and my break-up drama. Great.

Oh JB!!!!!!!!!

The poor baller!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised you even took his call or listened to him Jilly..

He is engaged to be married to another woman..

You don't need to be involved in his self created drama

He is spoken for.. Ultimately that is a deal breaker and shouldn't require anymore conversation.

Yeah but he isnt is he Art

He is just a spoiled brat who stamps his feet when he does not get his way and JB can and will do so much better!!!!!!!!

He was never a keeper

I think any one of us would've picked up the phone under these circumstances. Even against my better judgment, I know I would!

This guy is just a mess. I feel sort of bad for him for this deep hole he's dug himself into, but also just really astounded by his stupidity.

btw you spelled vilification wrong

Think we should look for his posting in 4 months? Yes, agreed. I am sure I will continue to be blamed. Man - I SO hate being "that girl" that wrecks a guy. I really hope he snaps out of this, and doesn't make the reason he hates women.

Thanks, Crest. I just continue to shake my head, say a lot of "wow's", and be sad over this kind of an end. I hate that he is so hurt, but ultimately, his bonehead engagement move only hurt himself more in the end. I told him that the other night.

And why do you assume I didn't behave perfectly? ;)

I've only followed bits and pieces of the saga, but why did you guys break up?

Because he was leaving town to go back to play in the NFL (gone for 6 months) and I didn't want to have a LDR. He was very insistent that it could work, even gave me a credit card so I could fly myself out (first class) anytime I wanted to. Ut uh.

Oh JB!!!!!!!!!

The poor baller!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, huh? I do feel badly for him, I really do. It was a crappy thing to do, but I know the source of pain that motivated it.

Hi, Art. You must have missed part of the story. His sham of an engagement is not legitimate, nor is it is anything that will come to fruition. It was designed purely to hurt me, and get me to run back to him. This "engagement" isn't happening.

And I know how crazy I get if I want to talk to an ex, and they ignore me. It adds power exponentially to my insanity. I wanted to give him that, plus, I really wanted to tear into him a little for what he did. Agreed, I don't need to be involved in his drama going forward...

Say it, Lishy! He throws his toys out of the pram! (I love it when you use that phrase). :)

Yeah, like I said, it was like listening to an obscene phone call. You just can't hang up! I think because I was sober, it was much harder to hear.

I see...

I read this from the OP..

It was my fault he got engaged to this girl

My point was that until he explained that that the engagement was a sham he was still not available..

I would've hung the phone up..

Unless you already knew it was a sham..

But then still if you knew it was a sham then why talk with him ?

::Just for JB::

No one likes a grown man who 'throws his toys out of his pram' every time things do not swing his way!;)

Actually I do feel a bit sorry for him as he has lost a good girl and knows it!

Posted

Life is tough.. that is why you have to think about things before you pull the trigger on something..

He obviously wasn't thinking this one thru...

and still hasn't started thinking yet..

I haven't seen him act in a manner yet that said " Relationship material "

Posted

Oh Art he was never a keeper, had JB loved him enough she would have been booking those first class flights in advance lol

He is a man who is minted and used to getting what he wants, he thought he could play games and get her running back ...... He was wrong and he found out the hard way!

Poor dude!

Yeah, you must have missed the other posting about when he "got engaged". And you took the quote out of context - that wasn't my commentary - it was part of his rant last night. Everyone in his life, including his family and myself, knew it was a sham designed to hurt me. That was never in question, and no one close to him ever took it seriously. I explained all that in the other posting, and assumed it was implied as a continuing saga - sorry.

And I already explained why I talked to him - I WANTED to have this discussion with him. Believe me, it took a LOT for me to not call him out numerous times over the past few weeks. I had a lot I wanted to say as well...

But, as I also said, he is young, and grossly self-entitled. Of course he didn't think this out! He's in his late 20's, used to his pampered life in which he gets what he wants, so yeah, he didn't handle it as well as say, a man in his mid-30's or older. I think he thought I would be another possession, or something that his agent would arrange to happen, and I wasn't down with the game plan. He's not used to that...

LISHY - thanks for the special pram comment. I just love that! :)

And your assessment is spot-on. He really thought his stunt would make me come running back, and didn't realize it had the complete opposite effect.

As women, we all know a lot of guys from our past double-back. I get a LOT of that (as most of you on here do, too!). But with Baller's antics, there is no way we could ever pick this up again. Just WAY over the top of a manuever.

Aw Jilly... I am sure baller was a nice guy and lots of fun, but he was way out of his league with you. I know his behavior is atrocious, but he just has no clue how to deal.

Thanks, SO! :) Appreciate that.

He was nice, and he was a fun guy. I know him - I know he will look back on all on this, and be purely horrified.

Hey - I am sure if we were all willing to, we would all have our stories of some really stupid thing we did, all in the name of love. This will be his.

JillyB, I haven't really followed your relationship with Baller but I feel sympathy and empathy for people who have lost someone they care for.

So, I think you should try to see him in a positive light, and remember the good times you two had together.

Even he has gone over the top, well.... that too also shows intense emotion and is flattering in its way.

I hope you both put this behind you quickly and move on.

CHeers,

Thanks, B!

I do, truly, not harbor ill-will or hatred for him. I hate that he is hurting so much, and I am sad and disappointed he drove things to an unrecoverable level.

Beyond that, I am sure he will be beating the crap out of guys at work to compensate. If his team wins a SB, I'll take pride in my contribution. lol
