julkat Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 My boyfriend of 4 months freaked out drunk at my house on Sunday and I had a friend come and get him. He took all of his clothes, etc. with him (he's stayed with me some time to help me close a business - he lives out of town). He said yesterday that he feels really bad about what happened and that he can't be drinking - and I agree that he can't. However, I also know that he's been pulling away from me and reactivated his online dating account last week. As I write this, I get it - we're done. However, when I saw him today to pick up some of my stuff he offered to come to my business on Thursday and Friday and help finish closing it - only a few days of work left to do. I don't know if I should take him up on this - as a friend - because I have such strong feelings for him. I've been crying off and on for two days because I already miss what we had together. He has become very important to me. We're both in our early 40's, separated from out spouses for about a year. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on this. Thanks
CommitmentPhobe Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 If you have such strong feelings for him it's better not to take him up on it, it will only cause you confusion. At this point in time the priority is to move on from him. He made his decision now it's time to move forward.
xpaperxcutx Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Let him take his stuff and leave your life forever. To even have him lingering around you would cause you alot of emotional pain. What you need to do now is tell yourself that he's not really worth it if he can so easily walk out of your life.
Trialbyfire Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 If you don't need the help to close up, try to avoid contact while everything is still so raw and painful. It can't be fun between shutting down your business and having this happen as well. Take care of yourself. Right now, you need to focus on what's best for you.
