allina Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I think the generalizations are true -- the more masculine the guy, the more likely he is to enjoy watching sports. And usually the better he is in bed. It's interesting how different my experience has been. I always found that guys who go on and on about sports and obsess over watching the game are the less masculine out of shape ones. The masculine men tend to not over obsess and they're out doing things while the chubsters drink beer and yell about the game, weird. But, rarely do any of these women have a clue about sports. Understanding sports is something that comes naturally to most men, so we have much more knowledge. I would much rather date a woman that embraces her femininity instead of trying to be one of the guys. It also sounds just ridiculous. It's like a guy saying "i love soap operas" thinking that will get him in with the girl he wants to date. Obviously this might turn women off more than it turns them on. Same with the women who claim to loves watching sports. Sexist gender stereotypes aside there are many women athletes who love sports. Just because someone says they enjoy something that doesn't fit your sexist ideals of what each gender should like doesn't mean they're not genuine.
johan Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 OP, you are just like a mouse that ran into what he thinks is a rock. But that's just his tiny perspective. Little does he know that what he actually found was Mount Everest. And he won't live long enough to find that out, because the mountain is just too giant for him to ever get to a place where he can see it for what it is. 10,000 years from now people will look at this time and label it as the Epoch of the Great Gender Role Switch, or the Era of the Resurgence of the Amazon.

That has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time...
johan Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Just where to you pull this crap from ? That has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time... I channel someone. I don't know who though. Fortunately I find whoever it is to be kind of amusing. So I share it with y'all while I wait for my fahr to light up.
mortensorchid Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Women are into sports because they finally figured out that if they are into them, they get to hang around with the guys. It's nice if they actually KNOW things about the teams to discuss with others, that just shows that they have more than a flat interest in just watching a game (live or on TV). And while we're on the subject, one more thing to all the guys out there who have wives, girlfriends, or daughters. DO NOT EXPLAIN THE GAME TO US! We get what's going on! You chase a little ball to and fro across a field and you get points for it! END OF STORY! We don't want to hear you say "Now what they have to do is (blank)". WE DON'T CARE AND YOU'RE RUINING THE EXPERIENCE FOR US! IT'S ANNOYING!!!!
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I kenna understand why it's so difficult to believe that some women truly enjoy watching and/or playing certain sports because it entertains them. One way to verify this, if you're a doubter, is if the woman consistently watches the sport(s) with or without male company. If she only watches it with male company, you can draw your own conclusions.
johan Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 One way to verify this, if you're a doubter, is if the woman consistently watches the sport(s) with or without male company. I don't believe this ever happens. Who explains what's going on to her?
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I don't believe this ever happens. Who explains what's going on to her? Shaddup!
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I will openly admit that I watch cycling and be entertained by a football huddle for all the wrong reasons!
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 For certain sports, camera angle is key. Closeups can be intense!
johan Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 For certain sports, camera angle is key. Closeups can be intense! I was watching yoga last night, and I couldn't agree more.
Art_Critic Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 For certain sports, camera angle is key. Closeups can be intense! That would be water sports.. Right ?
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I was watching yoga last night, and I couldn't agree more. As long as there wasn't the distracting mantra of "ooooommmm", I wouldn't doubt you got the most out of it. That would be water sports.. Right ? Have you ever seen the arms and shoulders of a water polo player? I used to work with one who was adorable to the max.

I don't think that it's hard to believe women like sports, we're always encouraged to take up a sport in school. Although when women watch games they are hardly as rowdy as the men. I know that when I'm watching a basketball game, I'd be cheering in my head rather than jumping up and down pumping my fists in the air.

Actually, when it's an intense of game of hockey, I'm as bad as the guys. You don't want to be near me when it's the playoffs if noise is offensive or distracting.

You don't want to be near me when it's the playoffs if noise is offensive or distracting. Have you ever watched sports with an overly enthusiastic woman, and they consistently cheer at the wrong times? As an example, the wrong team scores a touchdown, but they are jumping up and down until they are told what just happened? Overall there is something just not right about women being hockey/boxing/football fans, or pretending to be. Those are male sports. It would be similar to straight men saying "Watch out! I get so loud and crazy during the figure skating world championships!"
johan Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 It would be similar to straight men saying "Watch out! I get so loud and crazy during the figure skating world championships!" What's wrong with that?
Trialbyfire Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 What's wrong with that? You're on a roll today!
whichwayisup Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm into hockey. I breathe, eat, and sheeyot HOCKEY. Can't wait until training camp, pre-season games and ofcourse the start of the NHL regular season.

Can't wait until training camp, pre-season games and ofcourse the start of the NHL regular season. You and me baby! I'm excited this year about the 'nucks. They finally got rid of Nonis who I've always felt to be useless. While he bought Luongo, it was a no-brainer acquisition. The balance of his trades and free-agent signings have sucked! Let's see what Gillis can do!
vonerik012 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 If the man used to figure skate,or truly loves it, then there is nothing wrong with it. If the men really have no love of figure skating, but put this on a profile to attract women, it obviously would not work. Women are not attracted to men who like feminine things. It also seems insecure. As if the men are trying to be someone they naturally are not, just to be liked. So why do women think men are attracted to women whom like masculine things? Women did not grow up loving hockey/boxing/football. They never played any of those sports. they barely understand them. In most cases, they just want to act or pretend like they are interested in these sports to land a man.
almost famous Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Nah, that's not true. Women like sports for the same reasons men do. Now people are getting into the Olympics....it's the excitement and challenge the athletes face. It's not like women aren't athletic, also, so why wouldn't we also enjoy watching sports?
vonerik012 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I think the OP is talking about women who put on their profile "Love football!", and then when you talk to them they have no clue. Do they really love it? Or just trying to say what they think men want to hear... Like if I put on my profile, "Love the soaps" thinking that would get me in..
