Lauriebell82
This is sort of a little poll that I'm taking. I was wondering what everyone's view on this is. I always see couples post "I luv you" on facebook or something like that, and others post "i love you." Does anyone feel that there is a difference in that? I personally have never used the spelling "luv" as I think saying "i love you" sends a more personalized message. What do you guys think?
Magpies
I agree. Writing love seems more serious, while luv is kind of the shorthand-fun-in-thing. Speaking of which, I do love Janet's new song titled, "LUV": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4EpoQUTU7M
xjohnsgirlx
I agree that love is more a personal bf gf thing, where as i tell my friends i lub/luv/wuv them .. its just something fun i say meaning i care.

Yeah, I can't really figure out why couples even say it to their SO. My best friend and her husband periodically post that on myspace that they "luv" each other, and sometimes they say "love." My bf has said "i luv you" in text messages before, and I think it's kind of an unromantic way of putting it. I jokingly said one time that he spelled it wrong.

Star Gazer
When someone uses the word "luv" instead of "love," they're afraid of the emotional significance of using the word LOVE.
Meaplus3
I think "Luv" is just a cute sort of way of saying "Love", the meaning is the same IMO. AP:)
trubella
spelling it 'luv' isnt a big deal. the meaning behind it is still the same.

Author Lauriebell82
Thanks for the responses. I kind of agree that it doesn't mean the same thing, I mean my bf, along with my married friends who type that to each other don't do it all the time. I do agree that it is less serious, less romantic kind just a "passing by comment" so maybe that's just what the significance is. It really does bother me when people post that to each other, it looks ugly and not as special as "love." I agree with what other posters said that just because someone says "luv" instead of "love" doesn't mean they don't love you or anything.

Sometimes if I am busy and I am texting my boyf quickly, I will just say "luv u" as opposed to "I love you". You people are making a way bigger deal of this than needs to be...doesn't mean I love him any less.

Trialbyfire
I think there are far more important issues to have a disagreement about, rather than reading far too much into the spelling of words. If someone loves you, you will know it.
Author Lauriebell82
Thanks for the responses. It sounds like we have some different opinions here. For me, I really do think there isn't much difference, I mean I certainly don't think that saying "luv" versus "loves" means any difference in how much you love someone. Jilly Bean
My boyfriend's response to my text saying he spelled it wrong: "I'm an accountant not an English major." Ha ha! He's cute. I had a BF once who used to tell me, "I heart you." What do you do with that?
