For Pete's sake, what is the deal with all the "down on women" posts lately?

Did you know that more women than men get college degrees nowadays? Maybe that has something to do with women earning more than young men. For crying out loud, there's not some darn conspiracy of women set to deprive men of sex and love if you don't pay for our dinner, make 100k a year or drive a BMW.

btw, I love it when people use the word "feminist" like it's a dirty word. Have you ever actually looked this word up in the dictionary? To paraphrase, the definition is "anyone supporting a doctrine of social and political rights for women equal to that of a man."

So, unless you think women shouldn't have the same economical, social, and political rights that men have -- SURPRISE -- you're a feminist.

I have no idea what your point is, Maxwellian. Does it bother you that women sometimes earn more than men? Is that a bad thing?

Sour, sour grapes. Deal with it.

Young men are OPRESSED ! well a lot of us anyway.

An entire generation has been LOST. This will come back in years time to be a shame on our society, much like the treatement of women in the past, this will come back to bite us.

Women have become worth more. Young men should migrate to Mexico and try to find jobs there. You should read about the economic theory of the movement of the factors of production to the places where they have the greatest comparative advantage. Then pack.

At least you agree that women are earning more than men.

Some women deserve to make more than men...most do actually. I make 3x more than my boyfriend did...until he lost his job.

That is the attitude that keeps so many young men down that somehow they're inferior to women it is bizzare but has been forced down our throats for so long.

Female = good. Male = Bad. Male that acts like female = good.

These will be looked back on as shameful times in that regard I say again; an entire generation of displaced and lost young men.

For those wondering what's going on with the down-on-women posts, google our brother-site So suave. A few of the kids are still kicking around, engaging us in interesting dialogues and hopefully as open to our "truths" as they are willing to share theirs.

Max, women, lesbians or whoever you think is holding you down are not the ones creating the current conditions of the economy: technology is. We used to have an agricultural (read physical-stenght-dominant) and then an industrial (again p-s-g) economy which is, as Johan pointed out, increasingly moving to other areas of the world or getting so technological that it mostly involves pressing a button (and so no longer relies on gender categories). Now, if you want to blame anyone, blame Bill Gates, Apple and Silicon Valley.

The US, Canadian and European economies are now, since the 1990s predominantly 'knowledge and communication' economies. You obvioulsy know how to type and read, so I find it hard to believe you're as disadvantaged as you make yourself out to be. All you need to learn is how to present ideas diplomatically.

I don't see why a knowledge based economy need disadvantage men. Are you saying men are not as smart as women ? The perception that men should not be in certain jobs or are not capable of doing them is a new cultural stereotype that needs to be changed. Would actually benefit women in the long run.

No I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is that the economy is no longer gender-based.

All the stats I have seen still show that man fare better on the job market then women do. The only difference is that women are starting to make equal wages. So unless you can really demonstrate that there is a disadvantage, we can't assume that there is one.
