jerbear Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Now, how is this a game? She gave him her number SIX days ago, and he finally gets around to calling. NO ONE is that busy. Why should she jump the moment he calls? I'm not saying she should jump the moment he calls. He called six days later after getting her number. Ok. Initially it would be Monday then the suggestion changed to Tuesday around 3:17 ish. Hence it is starting to sound like a game. I'm not saying Dee-licous is playing games but it is starting to look like one.

Those were MY suggestions, so, blame me. lol JB - when you DO think she should return the call?

Author D-Lish Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 I'm not going to call him first thing tomorrow morning or anything though. I don't want to play games or anything.... Just want to make the right call- don't want to come off sounding desperate, nor do I want to come off as if I am playing a game.
Jilly Bean Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Well, this is annoying to me, D. He waits 6 days, we talk about "plotting" when you should return a call, and I (me!) am called out for playing games. Why the double-standard? Why is he allowed to wait 6 days, but then you are expected to NOT consider your next move? Hmph!
jerbear Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 No I am not Jerry-berry.... I haven't done anything yet! Jerry-berry... :lmao: This one sure beats the other nickname I've gotten in the Off-Topic thread. I'm not going to call him first thing tomorrow morning or anything though. I don't want to play games or anything.... Just want to make the right call- don't want to come off sounding desperate, nor do I want to come off as if I am playing a game. Ok... I want you to make the right call but sometimes don't over think it or plot it. Yes I share the same concern with JB on him waiting 6 days. Well, this is annoying to me, D. Why is he allowed to wait 6 days, but then you are expected to NOT consider your next move? Hmph! I share the same concern on the guy not calling and waiting 6 days. I say play by your own rules, he wants to wait 6 days and is busy with work. She doesn't have to call since he is busy. She can call anytime early next week or whenever he calls. Just because the guy waits six days doesn't mean Dee-licious should "wait one extra day" If Dee-licious is busy, she is busy. Just saying. The 6 days has gotten me in trouble in the past and I don't want Dee-licous to get into trouble.
Jilly Bean Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Yes, but other JB, why should we assume that he was too busy to call for 6 days? To me, the waiting of 6 days is a total game. But, inherent in early courtship, don't you think? I mean, everyone SAYS they don't want to play games, yet we all do it, to some degree. Even if it means considering when to return a call. Honestly, in my current hyper-bitter state, if a guy waited 6 days to call me, I wouldn't call him back at all. But again, I'm bit - ter.

But I did hear the nervousness in the voice as well.... I wrote it off after 4 days. I will call when I feel it's a good time for me. I am just waiting for someone to chime in and say " he isn't interested, he just wants a shag, if he was really interested he would have called earlier". lol. That seems to be where LS is heading nowadays.

Granted, Im sure much of the past 6 days he was trying to find the courage to call a woman he never had a conversation with - lol. Who knows? He could be the one. But, I believe in treating guys how they treat me initially, you know? If he is up my butt, then I am highly responsive. If he is sporadic, then I am much cooler in my responses. Maybe it would be better to go back into HD and get a vibe on him THAT way?!
GPFan Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Anyway- I got the call tonight. Picked up the voicemail just a little while ago. He sounded as nervous as I was when I handed him my number. He left his number and I'll give him a shout tomorrow evening as he said he was working tomorrow 10-6. Hi D-Lish, I think it is a little early in the game for worrying and/or strategising. He may have been busy, he may have had another 'situation to wrap up' first, he may have felt too nervous and flustered. I would give him every benefit of any doubt at this stage of the game. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!

I probably won't call tomorrow- I'll do it Mon... and give him the benefit of the doubt for now. I do like it if someone pursues me as well- I have never been a pursuer type. My gf actually told me that I shouldn't have given him my number because 99% of men want to be the predators in choosing a mate and will not respect a woman who makes the initial move on them. According to her SHE HAS STATISTICS (lol) that the relationships where the woman reaches out to the man first inevitably end in failure. And it is still early...lol. We'll see who chimes in with something negative! I live two secs away from the Home Depot...lol. I actually love it there.... great atmosphere.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you! Thanks GP. I have a no expectations attitude. I was just posting that I was giving up on dating after a string of losers.... and then I get the call back. lol. Well- I have no expectations at this point. I just completed a wicked resume I am really happy with this week, and have already gotten responses from all three companies I chose to send it to. I just aimed high with the positions I wanted and sent it out. So I have two phone interviews Wednesday and an interview Thursday. One job is working with Guess Inc. in a corporate capacity- that one I am really excited about. The other two are buying positions...which I would love as well. Maybe things are looking up?

I would have wrote a woman off after 3 days and being bitter is really not the cause. Life is to short to wait for a guy (or gal) to wait 6 days. I am just waiting for someone to chime in and say " he isn't interested, he just wants a shag, if he was really interested he would have called earlier". lol. That seems to be where LS is heading nowadays. Well we really do not know his side of the story. LOL. Yeah, no kidding. Give it a few hours - still early, hon. Give it a few hours, yelp! right now she is in denial and then she will get the shock part later.
Jilly Bean Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I actually love it there.... great atmosphere. I do, too. Sometimes I go in just to inhale the testosterone.
Author D-Lish Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 I do, too. Sometimes I go in just to inhale the testosterone. You know what testosterone smells like? A well used hockey bag.

Author D-Lish Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Hockey bag? Or nut bag? A hockey bag that has seen a lot of nuts in it's day. OMG, if You've ever dated a hockey player and walked into the place they keep the equipment..... It's simply acrid, repelling, rancid.... yet mysteriously erotic. HAHA. The Home D smells like wood. (I'll say nothing more on that)

(I'll say nothing more on that) I've done football, baseball and basketball. Oddly, the hockey guy never happened. Probably because I'm allergic to ice... Acrid, repelling, rancid, yet mysteriously erotic? Sounds like Ballers closet. The baseball player I dated had this sublime smell. I was so pheromonally attracted, he would often find me sitting in the living room sniffing his ball cap.

When I was a teenager, I was in love with this boy who left his hat at my house after a party I had. I slept with that hat and smelled it ALL the time. He wanted it back and I said I had never found it. haha. Oh, the hat. That lovely stinky hat.

I bought him a new one to wear, so I could sniff the older one. I felt like a dog. Baller smelled better dirty than he did clean. He used to use Irish Spring (no joke), and always smelled like male douche when he got out of the shower. Then it was compounded by the deodorant. Aye carumba. Im sure since we split he's graduated to Axe Body Spray.

He said "Just got in, heading to bed, can I take you to dinner tomorrow?". So I text back- "just got in myself" (ok- I was home posting here) "sounds like a plan- give me a shout". That okay? I hope so... I figure not responding twice in a row is rude.
Jilly Bean Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 It would be rude, yes. I wouldn't have responded so quickly - I would still have waited a day, told him I had plans, and then tried to set something up for like, WED. But again, I'm bitter - what do I know? I can't wait to hear where HD takes you, and all about the date! Considering you don't even know his name, this will be so interesting!
