How is he a scumbag for changing his mind? Chances are she would have been a walkaway wife a few years from now anyway so what is she so mad about?

He isn't a scumbag Woggle..

It was his right to not want to marry her.. but his decision cost her tons of money.. she fought back thru the court system and won..

If the roles were reversed ?? I already know you still would feel the woman was the perp.

Posted

Yes he was SUCH a scumbag. He paid her debt and took her on vacations. All she did is open her legs...

If you really feel this way about women then something tells me you will be single an awfully long time :)

A woman doesn't just OPEN her legs and that is it..

What an idiotic statement..

So many assumptions, so little time.

Anyone able to dig up the actual court case on this mother?

One thing I learned before I left Criminal Justice as a major-- there is ALWAYS more to the story, most especially if it gets into the media.

Posted

Are you people mathematically challenged?

He paid 30k of her debt. I guess that is what scumbags do..

She moved to GA FOR 2 MONTHS, then he left her the note. She is also keeping the 2 carat diamond ring.

She did get a job paying 30k.

How on Earth does that equal 150,000?

He spent at least 50k on her. She gave up 2 months of her life and is getting 150,000k.

Actually I wouldn't. I have never advocated a man suing a walkaway wife. I just think a man in that situation should be able to walk away unscathed.

LOL..

Who sounds bitter?

Yes he was SUCH a scumbag. He paid her debt and took her on vacations. All she did is open her legs..

After living with this creature, he rightfully changed his mind and realized she was just using him for money. So he changed his mind.

Flagged as man who doesn't get enough sex. He lied about her debt, but she "opened her legs.. " Please.

She is a fat ugly mid 50s woman. Yes, all she did was have sex. Did she spend money on anything?

He paid her debt.30k

He took her on vacations.

He bought her a 2 carat diamond ring.

He let her live at his home.

What did she do for him? Oh sue him for 150k more. Thats about it...

Posted

So she is 50s and overweight and had sex. Why do care so much?

Did you even follow up on the links? How and why is this some sort of battleground between the sexes? Because it's not.

I have no idea how this started or how it says anything about men and women.

Says the woman who thinks women should marry rich and for money..

Yeah, but that's just because I believe women are better off staying at home taking care of the house, husband, and kids.

Like in the good old times.

Well, the diamond ring would be considered a gift so that really doesn't count. Also, you can get a 2-carat diamond for pretty cheap actually, especially if it was really low quality, which is very possible.

This guy is a jerk because he lead this woman to quit her job with the understanding that they were getting married.

Then he broke up with her 3 days before the wedding? That is just low scumbag stuff.

Then he lies and said he suddenly found out about more debt she had which is why he called it off.

He's the lying scumbag here.

As other posters pointed out, there is a lot more to the story then the public is privy to. She was pretty much robbed a bunch of money by this deceptive man, he is an a** or the jury wouldn't side with her.

Good luck with that in today's economy. :)

The entitlement mentality amongst some women on these boards is really eye opening. So what if he paid 30k of HER debt. So what if he took her on vacations. So what if he bought her a 2 carat diamond ring..

You become engaged to someone to show your true intent. He bought her a 2 carat diamond ring. Lets say maybe about 10k.

Now what happens if after the engagement this woman turns out to be a psycho? He has to marry her? Will this set a precedent that women can act however they want once engaged, or they will sue you for hundreds of thousands?

Exactly.

That's why the only way to do that is to marry rich.

Otherwise you are expected spend the day in the office, the kid in daycare, to pay for the mortgage.

Posted

What did I personally say that sounded "entitled"? I asked for more info on the cause, which isn't going to happen. I really hate being told what I am and what I want. You don't know, why do you pretend that I do? I mean, you say "women" so I am assuming you are talking about me.

Hey, you're right! Because the jury's always right. Just look at OJ!

Obviously the guy did the right thing by walking out on her--the fact that she SUED him over it shows what a sad, petty person she is.

However, I think it's stupid to turn this into a battle of the sexes. The people who blame "feminists" for stuff like this obviously don't know what feminism entails. One bitter and scorned woman is not a symbol of all women, and certainly not for feminists.

Yeah I am screwed. I fell in love and married poor. I suppose that's why I am supposedly clamoring for all these entitlements, even though I once married poor, he got rich with my help, then we divorced! Wow, fancy that!

OK

Explain to me mathematically how much money he screwed her out of?

She quit her job paying 80k for 2 months to stay with him from 0ct 06 until Dec 2 06. She still chose to live with him for 3 more months after the note. (I am sure rent free)

What did she lose?

2 months of 80k salary. 12k.., After taxes lets say 10k.

What did she gain?

5 months living rent free 5k

2 carat diamond ring 3-15k

Vacations thousands

She did get a new job paying 30k So lets say she made 2k

30k of debt plus interest that would have accrued 35 k

She gained about 50k, and lost 10k of her salary...

So instead of talking out of your ass, please illustrate how she was "robbed" of a bunch of money.

Posted

If I ask someone for a ride to a job interview and they say yes and then they don't show up, can I sue them for 3 years salary for financial hardship?

Posted

It came out in court that he was also having an affair with another woman..

She was awarded 150k for lost wages dude.. that is it..

I think that this sets a precedent that shouldn't be set.. it also sets a precedent that men or women should watch how much money they loan their engaged or how much money they cost their engaged..

Most people don't move like she did before the wedding.. most people also don't lend money to their engaged as well...

If she was able to make that much money before, just go back to Florida and get a similar job. She was only gone for two months (of getting her expenses paid for).

Hopefully the guy is going to appeal and win.

What grounds would he have to appeal on ?..

Runaway jury I don't think that fits.. and winning an appeal has more to do with if the judge messes up his rulings thru the case rather than having some guy who lost a breach on contract suit not pay up..

She proved her case in court.. why is that appealable ?

Of course I'm not an attorney.. maybe grogster could shed some light on that

Art, are you very slow? She was awarded 150k for punitive damages. If you aren't sure what it means, look it up.

She lost wages for 2 months!!!! Not 2 years!!!! How does that equal 150k?

She won 150,000 when she only made 81,000. Its obviously more than lost wages.

I am with ART CRITIC here. She proved her case in court, we don't know all the facts to say she was a gold digger, for all we know this guy is a millionaire five times over who totally deceived her. If you watch the video, the lawyer stated that the man never had any intention of marrying her and he did lie about her having debt.

Yes, it is also emotional punitive damages. You have the wedding invitations sent, the flowers ordered for a wedding three days later, then you get a note dumping you in the bathroom. You are going to experience some emotional damages.

Also it is now 2008 so that is 2 years since the wedding was to take place, so there 'ya go, 2 years salary she has been out.
