e.clipse Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i have an art project i am supposed to deliver this friday, and i sincerely doubt i will be able to; i haven't even started working on it. it's pretty ridiculous that i won't be able to, especially considering it is an artwork that was requested of me and will get paid for doing. and it's not so much lack of inspiration as it is lack of motivation that is keeping me from beginning. even as i type this, i know i should be working on it, but all i seem to want and be able to do after work is come home and drink some whiskey and smoke some cloves, while listening to The Beatles. in fact, i'm doing so right now (except tonight i am toasting to jake and his shrimps with some cognac, instead of whiskey). sigh. coping, yes, i must be coping, but i'm not sure with what anymore.
Nemo Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Just do it when you can. Art cannot be rushed, and tell whomever is asserting the "deadlines" that they are being ridiculous. It's all about the artistic dynamic, and Mercury is totally in the wrong constellation right now. Add those woes to the unfavourable angle of Saturn's rings, and it stifles all creativity. But don't worry, it should pass soon. In the meantime we can entertain ourselves by keeping our eyes fixated on Uranus, which is likely to eclipse at any moment.
Prodigal Princess Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 An art project? Pfft, what bulls*it. Get a real job. Then again, if you cant fingerpaint on time, I doubt you'd be employable in the real world.

borelandkaren Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Paul Keating would be proud of you. Oh yes!!! Most definitely!!! LOL!!!:lmao:
Prodigal Princess Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hm, I was going more for the Hitler vibe but I'll also take Keating... Nemo, didn't realise you were from Oz. I live right near Oxford Street, it's a fag hag's paradise here.
kizik Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I'm a musician, so I am entitled to all the whiskey and cloves I want. It's an artist's obligation to be self-destructive. (written semi-facetiously)
Jake Barnes Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hm, I was going more for the Hitler vibe but I'll also take Keating... Nemo, didn't realise you were from Oz. I live right near Oxford Street, it's a fag hag's paradise here. Hitler was an artist, so he would have contempt for your perspective. He was actually a sensitive man who would have rather painted Europe in watercolors, but people like you pushed him to paint it in blood
Green Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I was in the same situation with a 30 page technical paper I had to write over the course of two days... Just start working on it and keep working on it. Waiting to the last minute may be the only way you know how to work on stuff so just start now don't come on here and type just work work work.
Prodigal Princess Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hitler was an artist, so he would have contempt for your perspective. He was actually a sensitive man who would have rather painted Europe in watercolors, but people like you pushed him to paint it in blood I know all about Hitler Jake, I wrote my honors thesis on National Socialism. The difference between Hitler and e.clipse is that Hitler knows how to get a job done. He also realised that you can't make your mark on the world by painting landscapes.
johan Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I know all about Hitler Jake, I wrote my honors thesis on National Socialism. I'd be more apt to listen to your opinions on Hitler if you had written your honors thesis on the Nazi party. Who ever heard of National Socialism? Completely irrelevant.

Not sure if you're just being a smart alek Johan, but for the ignorant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism
kizik Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Nihilists. F*ck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenants of National Socialism, at least it's an ethos. Name that movie!
Storyrider Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Aw, you're such a good artist, e.clipse. I hope you finish it so I can see what it looks like.

Yeah, Just keep smoking your cloves and listening to music. Screw the project. I mean, you can only create art when you feel like it and are inspired, otherwise it sucks. Just tell them you'll give it to them if and when you feel like it. Too bad, c'est la vie, etc.
Storyrider Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Nihilists. F*ck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenants of National Socialism, at least it's an ethos. Name that movie! Just a guess, but...Slacker?
Storyrider Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 thread-jacking anyone? It isn't a thread-jack. e.clipse is being a Slacker.
Crazy.S Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I know how it is. I am an architecture student and it's really hard to meet deadlines, especially when you are designing. But when the pressure kicks in, so does my ability to crank those drawings out. I think you will be fine, as long as you stay true to your art.
Prodigal Princess Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ... as long as you stay true to your art. What the F does that mean?? Talk about BS! She's selling a product, not painting the Mona Lisa.
kizik Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hey princess, take it easy for Christ's sake. No one has guessed the movie yet.
Prodigal Princess Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hey princess, take it easy for Christ's sake. No one has guessed the movie yet. John Goodman (Walter), The Big Labowski. Duh.
Citizen Erased Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Nemo, didn't realise you were from Oz. I live right near Oxford Street, it's a fag hag's paradise here. I don't think he is. He just likes to throw out a few comments here and there to put you off. I saw a guy beating himself up on Oxford Street yesterday. I really liked his pink heels. What's up with the hatred for art?
