motive2002 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 .. it seems a broken heart may not be all that she gave me. Does this get any worse?!? If she had something, and didn't disclose, I'm going to be furious! I'll keep you posted...
LikeCharlotte Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 This might be a reason to break NC... for others safety.
Trialbyfire Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Let's hope you test negative or that's it's something curable. People really should consider the health of others. Good luck motive!
Author motive2002 Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 I'm thinking HPV, due to the symptoms, but my regular clinic wasn't able to determine for sure. (they said it didn't resemble it) Gonna see a skin doctor for a second opinion. They'll probably use one of those fancy microscope things for a closer look. Oh yeah, and I'm going to use the emoticon too, cuz that's how I feel right now. She said she had been tested for everything under the sun after her ex-husband cheated on her. On a brighter note, my HIV test came back negative. I didn't think I had anything to worry about there, but peace of mind all the same.
kizik Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 HPV is rarely detectable in men. I got some crotch bumps a few months back but they were just zits. It's probably nothing.. plus it's been a long time since you've seen her, let alone slept with her. Most STI's don't take 3 months to show signs.
Author motive2002 Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 The incubation period of a virus is the time taken for the virus to show up as a symptom after the initial contact. The HPV virus has a long incubation period that typically ranges from three weeks to eight months. The average incubation period for the HPV virus has been estimated to be three months. 3 months NC. Coincidence? To put a better perspective on this, there is mention that in some cases it can take years for HPV to manifest itself, but based on my previous sexual history, and the partners I had I don't think I've had this before (or don't have, I hope. The jury is still out on that one)
D-Lish Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Why are you concerned Motive? Do you have symptoms of something? I got all my recent tests back negative... I went back to my doc because I had a hook up with an ex like back in May and i didn't trust he hadn't been hooking up with others- but everything came out fine. No HIV, or anything else. The only symptom of HPV that would be suspicious is the appearance of a wart(s).
kizik Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 M, you can freak yourself out about this all you want but it's not going to change a thing. Even if you do have HPV, so do 80% of all sexually active people. STOP worrying about it and just go to that appt. next week.
LikeCharlotte Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Let the tests decide and in the meantime try to remain calm. It could be nothing.
CaliGuy Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 .. it seems a broken heart may not be all that she gave me. Does this get any worse?!? If she had something, and didn't disclose, I'm going to be furious! I'll keep you posted... Ooch man, that sucks. Keep us posted and I hope everything turns out ok.
roghornio Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 How do you know? Has it not been several months (5+) since you split up? That's a long time for symptoms to develope! Usually in a couple a weeks you know...er, a friend told me that Unless its chlymdia which i believe has no symptoms.
Peter_pan Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 wat are the symptoms of hpv? sorry to hear that man. glad your clean though from anything life changing
Author motive2002 Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Got my second opinion. Dermatologist says it just looks like skin irritation, not an STD of any kind. I feel a little embarassed, although I've shared a lot with this community, so I guess it's no big deal hehe. You guys are a great bunch
Redbull Rider Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 man i know how that can be. glad you got the clean bill of health. sometimes a good scare can do a lot of good though.
