nick143 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 My boyfriend and I have been together for more than a year and it has been a LDR from the beginning. We live in the same city but he travels for work in a different city everyday and gone for months at a time. We are very happy together and we make the distance work. We are going on 2 1/2 months apart right now with no end in site. We text all day and talk all night. I travel to see him whenever I can. But lately I miss him so much I'm always sad. I need help coping I dont know how to be happy again until I see him. I'm making it harder on us than it has to be. I get mad at him, start fights and am makin him miserable. Any ideas on how to cope?
chutzpah89 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 wow...i undserstand what you're going through completely. It is really hard. I'm in an LDR currently and I find it easier to deal with when I talk about it (like now) but I might have some more ideas for you. Personally, I never try and hide how I feel. Without my SO here with me, I'm depressed practically all the time. I cry when I need to cry, and I have a wonderful best friend who supports me and I vent to her a lot. But I also try to find time to be happy. Its very important to keep a social life. Try to constantly be with people. It might be hard at times though. Its hard for me to ever be happy it seems without him, but try to stay positive. And atleast you have a certain date to look forward too. Some LDR's are open-ended and never have a set date to when all the hurt and pain of being away from each other can subside. Be sure to talk on the phone every day, which is sounds like you do. And talk about the future. Have yall talked about ever getting married someday? I've been in a LDR for about a year, and been with him for 1.5 years today. We just recently had our first discussion about the furture and we shared with each other that we wanted to be with each other for the rest of our lives and get married, have kids, and live happily ever after. Its SOOOO nice to have something to look forward to. Best of luck
