Ha ha! I could have given him a pair of diamone earrings? Geez, with so many OWs, what was left to give him? I feel so cheap. All I gave him was a drawing I made of us. I guess I was the one who wanted to spare his W of wondering where the gifts had come from. And when I asked him where he stored the drawing, he couldn't remember. He probably threw it away. It must be so very difficult to store all the secret treasures of the many, many OWs who lie in your wake. What to do, what to do.

After 30 years we have given one another many gifts. This past year I bought him stocks, custom paintings of his favorite places, jewelry, and many other items. He of course gave me many wonderful gifts too. The gift I treasure the most is a book of poetry in which he wrote on almost every page - and read to me from. We often read the same books and would discuss the stories, watched the same movies, shared soul wrenching life events.

And STILL - he chose to stay with HER!

To me the ring is simply a piece of jewellery because I know how MM feels about his M. I can see how some women may feel hurt by seeng the band on his finger but I don't care if he wears it or not. I find that in the past while, he himself has chosen not to wear it. I don't ask why and have never asked him to take it off. He lost his original ring about two years ago and W bought him a new one for Christmas. To me, it really is just another piece of jewellery. He always takes it off before bed so that is not an issue.

What I notice more is if he wears or uses what I give him....its nice to see him wearing a tie or a shirt that I took great pains to decide on. Its nice to see he's replaced his old watch with the new one I gave him for his birthday. Its even better if he makes a point to tell me he likes those things or wants to point out to me that he is using them and appreciates them!

I have many pieces of jewellery and some are from my ex-husband. He was, otherwise, an ass but had amazing taste in jewellery and bought me several pieces in our years together. One is a diamond and ruby ring that I still wear to this day and rarely take off. He gave it to me for our anniversary the year before we divorced. I wear it because I love the ring, not the symbolism behind it. My MM knows where the ring came from and made only one comment which was "well I will have to find a ring to replace that which you will like better!" He's bought me three so far and I love them all but still wear the diamond and ruby one every day!!!:D

My guess is the MM's wedding ring staying on would be a lot less problematic than him taking it off and forgetting to put it back on.......leaving home with his ring on and returning without it could lead to all sorts of questions, suspicions and confrontations that, in the end, cause a lot more trouble than its worth! Similarly, if W fnds the ring left at home that raises eyebrows as well.........how many times can a man start 'forgetting' to put on his wedding ring afterall before his actions become suspect?

If he did all that with you, makes you wonder what he did with her to make him want to stay????? It is possible that it was a step above and beyond what he did with you.

Well, I happen to know for a fact (from her mouth) that he never did any of these things with her. They have lived in separate bedrooms for 5 years - she told me herself - she hates his job, his family, his motorcycle, that he smokes on occasion... well you get the picture.

It's his adult children. She has him totally convinced that he will NEVER see his kids or grand kids again if he leaves

I know how powerful it is to believe every word that your MM says.

But know this, he stays because he chooses to. His W cannot control what his grown children do. They may be upset at first, but they will not end their R with him forever, if he leaves her.

He's counting on you being understanding.

And then he should be understanding when you move on.

Remember this: they will never leave as long as they think that you'll let them have their way. And "their" way is status quo.

Just think about it.

That's a mighty powerful woman. She has the ability to make grown children disown their father and the ability to make the grandkids stop loving grandpa, but not the ability to make him keep his d*ck in his pants so that he doesn't use it on someone else other than the person he is married to. Hmmm sounds kind of like a load of crap, don't it? If she had that kind of power, you wouldn't be an issue.

He is a coward who has made a decision to based on what his very adult children have told him about their feelings for his lack of morals or standards. They will probably forgive him at some point, but right now they have every right to say who will be around their children. So the big man didn't want to let go of his miserable life, for his wonderful love.

OWs: just be grateful he didn't wear his W's ring, his OOW's necklace, and another OOOW's bracelet while he made love to you. Ha! I should have given him a nose ring!

An Albert ring, rather? (If you've not seen one, there's a pic on Wikipedia under "Prince Albert piercing...)

Check the ingredients first - some have carcinogenic colourings / flavourings. Because they're not classified as "foodstuffs" the regulations are less stringent :(
