Where would you go, what would you do?

Also how would you deal with awkward silences?

The fact that you would ask these questions tells me you are way too uptight.

A nice starter date is going out to eat, then going to a show or concert. If there is any awkward silence in your conversation, one of you shouldn't be with the other. Women love to talk about themselves so just keep asking questions about her likes, dislikes, etc....just stay clear of her sex/relationship history. AND FOR GAWD'S SAKE don't tell her you come to this site for advice and the name you use here....geeze, the number of idiots who do that is baffling!

Nice dinner on the pier with a nice view (preferably italian or seafood restaurant). Walk on the pier followed by "serious/deep" conversation and being cute followed by cuddling and kiss. There shouldn't be dull conversations let alone awkward silences on first date when you have everything to talk about. If there is awkward silence, break it by pointing it out with a cute hand gesture. "awkward turtle".

If you're the awkward silence type, go somewhere for drinks, or have a bottle of wine with dinner or something. Just don't get so wasted you're out of control or offensive, you just want a little social lubricant. It's a fine line, it helps if she's a little drunker than you are. She'll let a few more slip ups slide. Or if you're a Seinfeld fan, you'd be hoping for awkward silences, because you can just make out!

~and that kids, is how Daddy got Mommy to marry him. Well, that and he knocked her up the third date ;)
