Hello everybody,

I have been in a relationship for six months now.

I like going out to certain clubs/bars to drink and hang out with my brother in law, my sister and a close friend.

My GF has always been insecure about this to some extent and I have always reassured her that I'm out there to have some drinks and hang out with my sister and close friend, never seeking anything else but a good time with people that are close to me that I neglected for too long.

From her perspective her boyfriend is going out every weekend to get trashed till the wee hours of the morning at clubs. At times just him and his single friend.

I understand how that looks in her eyes so we struck a compromise and basically its down to her coming out with me when my friends go out.

She is a self declared no party person. So I understand she wont feel like it all the time but as long as we do sometimes ill be fine!

What about you guys how do you deal when your opposite is not a going out person at all and the insecurities this creates for both ends ?

While I'm not very interested in clubs anymore, I'm a rather flexible person. I've tended to follow the guy's lead. In an "official" relationship, I wouldn't go out much if the guy wasn't a party guy. When I did, it was only at a friend's request, and I almost always invited him, or at least let him know.

Clubs aren't THAT serious for me, so I could take it or leave. Usually though, I didn't have that much extra time anyway, as when I was free, I was more than likely with my guy.

The only time I had problems with my going out a lot was when I was involved with an "off and on again ex" who just wasn't making enough time for me. I'm not sure how it may have seemed to him, but I wasn't going out to be spiteful. I just let him know clearly that this is one thing I do with my spare time, and if we did more together, I probably wouldn't go out much if at all. When he would complain, I would just tell him the same thing I said before. It did make him more insecure, but that situation was a bit different from what you've described.
