How about oily hair and oily skin?

The oils help keep dirt in the pores and the skin soft.

I didn't say you looked bad, silly! You're very handsome. But you simply don't look like you're in your 20's. You're a MAN. Be proud. :)

(The camera hates me too, it's okay.)

Okay I wasn't going to post but this made me have to.

I'm 38 and I still cannot buy beer without being carded. It's cool and all but damn it can be embarrassing too when there are people around.

As to your quote: I got propositioned by a 17 year old girl last week. Obviously I declined, but get this: When she told a mutual friend about my turning her down, she actually said "what's his problem, isn't he a man!!??" Kinda hurt my feelings truth be told.

BTW, I got my genes from my mom. Got lucky there because my brother got my dad's looks. He got hosed to say the least.

#1 thing to do to keep young is using a GOOD sunscreen that has a high PPD (not just SPF) and is PHOTOSTABLE. A lot of sunscreens in moisturizers like Clinique, Estee Lauder are just ****, people who are REALLY into their skin even order sunscreens from Europe such La Roche Posay from Europe etc. The euro sunscreens have higher PPD's and are more effective but aren't available her yet because they haven't been approved by the FDA yet, but you can still order them form Ebay. SPF only protects against burning, not aging.

And always use Skinceuticals CE Ferulic acid under the sunscreen, this is the only product that has A LOT of scientific studies to back up it claims (it makes the sunscreen 8x more effective), it has been mentioned in countless of scientific and medical journals.

And use a retinol cream at night. Creams only moisturize but do not reverse the signs of aging while a retinol cream does, you can OTC like Skinceuticals or Green cream and progress to micro Retina A and stronger prescription stuff.

I look really young but then again I do think I'm seriously genetically blessed :) It also helps that I always get plenty of rest and I have no stress whatsoever in my life. I'm self employed so my life is leisurely, I wake up whenever I want, work as little as I want, I have no problems or worries. My biggest worries in life are what to eat everyday or what dress to buy next.

People that have to work hard 9-5's every day and then go out at night have it the worst, they have deadlines, stress from outside people, bosses yelling at them, don't get enough sleep etc.

People who are young now have a better chance to stay younger more than ever because of much better sunscreens now and better skin products/retinols etc.

A few years ago sunscreens were crap, a lot weren't broad spectrum sunscreens with adequate PPD and were not photostable.

Anyways, I am 30 and a lot of people still think I am 18.

Is this loveshack.org or makeupalley.com? lol Thank you for the tips! I always thought a sunscreen, SPF 15 Moisturizer would do the trick, but I guess not! My mom is 58 and she looks seriously 40 at most! She stays out of the sun though...

By the way, where can I purchase these products? That's right, Ebay, any brands in particular?

Ok, well you are lucky! I'm an attorney, new one at that, so getting bitched around my the Partners, Clients, and judges don't make for a stress free career.....

I actually learned about Skinceuticals CE Ferulic acid from Makeupalley, it had good reviews and so does Green Cream. I always read there before buying anything! I personally buy my skinceuticals from Ebay though.

La Roche Posay has a sunscreen that is availabe in the U.S which contains Mexoryl but it's only SPF 15 with a decent PPD and it's photostable and it's for sale at CVS for around $30, I know the fanatics who are really into it are buying another LRP lotion with SPF 50 directly from Europe since it's not available here yet.

You can find a study to support any skin care product.

My mom and grammy have used Oil of Olay products their entire life, and their skin is supple and youthful for their ages. You don't have to spend $135 on a serum to have good skin.

That said, CG...you're always complaining about how young you look. Why do you intentionally try to look that young?

Posted

Star, it's probably good genetics, hydration and starting a skin care regime previous to aging, which has helped your mom and grandmother. Too many people wait until they start showing signs before they do anything about it. Once damage has happened, it's sometimes irreversible, although you can hide it with assorted products.

I like to look young but when people assume I am REALLY young it irritates me because they are assuming things about me (without knowing me) and I feel that they treat me differently because they think I am young. I don't know for certain IF they are treating me differently because they think I'm young, that's what I think though.

And to be honest, sometimes I'm just in a bad mad and may take it out on others so I suspect that might have something to do with it as well. Also could be because I have nothing else to really worry about ( I don't have enough real problems I guess) so I start worrying about things that are insignificant.

Viv, you do look younger. Handsome guy.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment! And I appreciate the fact that you didn't call me cute lol

I get that all the time and I hate it lol..

Ha ha ha, piglets are cute! Yeah, I have a guy friend with a babyface and he get so annoyed! The guy is 30 and he gets called "cute"! lol

When your my age, you'll be envying the babyfaces and other stereotypical asians!

For an asian guy as far as I can remember I've always appeared older than my actual age and I suppose act older than my age. Which is good in some cases because I get the respect other people in their early 20's usually don't get. But there's a downside when it comes to dating though or mixing with people who are really my age...which explains why most of my friends are older than me.

I'm 25 and I look 32 !!!!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee but I have the mentality of a 15 year old

Yes Maxwell, I am look like I am between the ages of 15-16-17 and I am older than that. Some girl approached me once and said how did you get in here (a club) and I said with ID, and she presumed it was fake and said, you can't be any older than 16 and I was 18 at the time. Boy, was I fecked off.

I'm 20, 16-18 shaved and 20-22 unshaved.

Could be worse. A girl that I work with saw me on the street the other day coming back from lunch (I had a white button-down shirt (untucked), jeans and my sunglasses on). The first words out of her mouth were "you look mean!". I gave her a hard time about it; two days later me and a friend were out at a bar watching the Jackson/Griffin UFC title fight when a buddy of my friend came by and said hi. He'd mentioned that he was going to come by earlier, but when he saw me, he got nervous. Apparently, I remind him of Tank Abbot. Okay, so maybe the girl at work wasn't kidding around...

In stark contrast, the friend I was with is the one I mentioned previously who still looks underage. He definitely has a baby face!

So, is it better to be too cute or too scary?

I think there are pluses and minuses to different looks. Having a baby face is good in that you look younger than you are for the beginning your adult life, but once the signs of age creep up on you, they look more incongruous with your features...like an aging child. A more mature, sculpted face makes you look older at a younger age but ages more gracefully later on.

:D

I got carded twice last night at the same pub. By both genders.

My tiny study would conclude that I look strange enough to warrant further investigation.

Posted

Oh I can vouch for you Ms. Undies. You look nowhere NEAR your age. You have a very youthful face and the fact that you're so petite also contributes to how young you look.

Posted

Haha...unders, love it!

Pending further investigation, you're either old enough to drink or we'll have to spank you for attempting underage drinking!

Totally agree. A baby face looks strange as they age but someone considered handsome or beautiful tends to look the same for alot longer.

I think most people think they look younger than they are and our society is so youth prone that it seems very important to not look like a old fart.

It is why the cosmetics industry is booming. Sex sells.......

Touche, I am just being honest here like Stargazer was to Caliguy....you posted your photo up here and you DID look well into your 40s, as in the pushing 50 kind of 40's....not that there's anything wrong with that, there isn't! Embrace your age! Don't fight it!

Which photo?

When was the last time you had your eyes checked?

Anyway, not surprising you, of all people, would say that. Duh!

How's that diet workin' for ya? :p

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion. And trust me, I'm my own worst critic as far as my appearance...body AND face. But I know I don't look my age. I compare myself to other women my age all the time.

Nope. No comparison, if I do say so myself. And I'll even go a step further and say that I look younger than many women in their mid to late 30's.

But thanks for your honesty. :)

So why not post YOUR pic and see how you stack up? Or are you the type than can only dish it out but can't take i?

I think that looking fit - whether as a result of diet, genetics, working out, or a combination of all three -- is the #1 factor in looking good. I actually think I look my age, but people invariably think I am younger. I think this has more to do with the fact that many women my age (especially those who've had 3 kids!) are overweight and out of shape. Just saying that someone is "middle aged" conjures a negative image. So when you are in fact middle aged but are slim and fit and exuding energy... well, these are traits that are associated with youth, for the most part.

I'm not complaining. ;)

Hey, thanks SO! The pic in my profile is from 3 years ago when I was 43. I guess I need to put a more recent one. Not that I've aged much in 3 years.;)

Anyway, you're a dear. Thank you so much for the compliment.
