shadowplay Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Not really. My mom is nearly 60, and as I said in my previous post - the only way you can tell her age is the white streaks growing in her hair. Her face is flawless, and her hands and throat are smooth. If she dyed her hair, she would look like she was in her 30s. My aunts are the same way. I think it has to do with the fact that they are, for the most part, insanely opposed to exposing themselves to the sun. If you have a dark tan, where they come from, you are considered to be lower class. Like I said, my grandmother looked strikingly young until she hit about age 75. Maybe Chinese and Japanese women age worse than Vietnamese, which would make sense since they tend to be lighter. My Chinese friend's live in babysitter was in her sixties and definitely looked it, if not older.
jerbear Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Asians may look younger early in life, but they seem to hit a wall of age around fifty or so...and suddenly look a lot older than their Caucasian counterparts, turning into tiny old ladies with flip flops. So I guess it evens out in the end. I don't know. My greatgrandmother looked like my grandmother when she was 90. My grandmother is 80 something now and just shrank due to age. My mom does not look her age and she is almost 60 or so. No one would know she had an old kid till I call her mom.
melodymatters Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Unless you have naturally oily skin, girls need to start a skin regime as young as possible and as Blind Otter has stated, stay out of the sun! I am 100 % italian, am 40, look about 30, and i think the oily skin has been my saving grace !! Where most people my age have laugh lines, i still worry about getting little pimples ! Oh and i'm dating a 24 yr old and all he can do is tell me what an amazing body i have, and no I don't go to the gym:cool:

Luckily, my skin is fairly oily and olive-hued despite being light.
lexi29 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I look extremely young for my age..I'm 25 and look like a teenager. My parents look young for their ages too, they def. don't look in their 50's. I do work out a lot and since I am very petite and short that might make me look even younger. It's funny that you posted this thread, my supervisor just told me that I have to dress more dressy at work because I look so young and my clients won't take me seriously! (everyone else dresses fairly casual) This really stinks because I asked them what to wear on the first day and they said kacki pants and a polo shirt woud be fine (which is what I wear). Guess that isn't dressy anymore. And now I have to go buy a whole bunch of new clothes. Okay didn't mean to hijack the thread, just needed to vent! I have this problem too! and sometimes I hate it. I'm 29 and most people would peg me for in my early twenties or late teens. When I started my job 6 years ago I was 23 and many of my coworkers couldn't believe I was over 17!! I am short so that is part of the problem. I'm sure that when I'm 40 I'll enjoy looking younger than my age but now its annoying when I get carded for buying alcohol or have clients or coworkers make comments about am I old enough to work here or if they ask how long I've been at my job they don't believe me.
CaliGuy Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I'm 39 and easily look anywhere from 22-29 depending on if I am wearing a hat backwards or not. People often mistake me for being much younger than I am. I have good genes I guess. I still have some wrinkles here and there but I also work out every day and am in better shape now at 39 than I was at 22
Author HiItsMe Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Oh and i'm dating a 24 yr old and all he can do is tell me what an amazing body i have, and no I don't go to the gymSee...this is what I DON'T get...LOL..not being a jerk or anything...but I was GOING to start a post on... "When you get older, does everyone need to go the the gym to keep that figure of yours going?" Because basically, you metabolism slows down, you start getting some extra flab on the thighs or a small spare bicycle tire. Must be 100% genes if you aren't hittin the gym...AT ALL lol I'm 39 and easily look anywhere from 22-29 depending on if I am wearing a hat backwards or not. blind_otter Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 My mother doesn't believe in exercise. She hasn't ever gone to a gym (I think I would laugh my ass off if I saw her in one) and she does not do recreational exercise. She does, however, work in the yard and do heavy lifting, chopping down trees and whatnot. She also does a lot of remodeling work on her house. She also eats only Vietnamese food. She is super skinny and tiny, but she has a bit of a pooch (I guess 6 pregnancies will do that to some people).
Trialbyfire Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Just a pooch after six pregnancies? She's lucky! Some women don't even recover from one. Genetics, proper eating habits and being active are a good combination.

Same here! I am 29, in the legal profession, attorney, and judges are ALWAYS asking me if I graduated law school early. Everyone asks me if I'm 21 or 22. Opposing counsel and clients get thrown off! lol Younger guys ALWAYS approach me, or REALLY OLDER guys.. Found out the last guy I was dating was 20, but who knew until after date #1, because he thought I was around his age too!!!!! I get carded all the time at bars, and they scrutinize my ID too!
CaliGuy Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I honestly think you look 33, not in your 20's. Sorry hunny. If you saw me in person you wouldn't say that! I look horrible in photos and much better (and younger) in person. The camera hates me

Yamaha Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I don't think 1 person said they looked their age or older so I guess we are all drinking the fountain of youth. Anybody get told they look much older than they are?????? Tell the truth......
LoveDeluxe78 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Ah, another attorney. Welcome. lol yes, California attorney - too many in this state. Are you one too, or just used to seeing many of us? lol

Star Gazer Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 lol yes, California attorney - too many in this state. Are you one too, or just used to seeing many of us? lol Yup. I'm in NorCal too, by way of LA. About 90 miles from you, I believe.

LoveDeluxe78 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Yup. I'm in NorCal too, by way of LA. About 90 miles from you, I believe. I'm in San Francisco right now! I went to law school down in LA!

Yes, but suites/professional clothing AGE everyone! lol Remember when we were in HS, and our prom dates showed up in suites and tuxes and suddenly they were acting so much more mature and looked it too? lol I wouldn't sweat it. I bet in your day to day attire, you probably look no more than 25!!!
Balthazar Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I am 37, and I look 37. Maybe 38 on a bad day. Where do all the other LS-ers get the apples of Idun from? By the way, Mediterranean women age very nicely(just like my mom) as long as they can keep their weight down(which is difficult).
Star Gazer Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I'm in San Francisco right now! I went to law school down in LA! So did I! Well, I started at Loyola, then transferred to a better place.
