I have always wanted to be one of those people that have it together, you know, the kind that can get their Christmas cards out on time, can find the time to clean, cook, exersise, and do projects on the side. I always feel like I'm rushing through life and doing everything at the last minute, and I'm super messy and unorganized. I work 1o hour days, so on my days off I just want to have a drink and watch TV - pretty much veg and sleep. Does anyone know how I can motivate myself to get organized, exersise, and find time for my hobbies as well as cook and clean and get it together? This is probably silly, but I feel like I need help!!!

Do you feel like everything is cluttered in your head? All the "I want to"s swimming around? This itself can cause stress.

I suggest you write things down, all that you want to do and achieve. Then you get down on paper all the clutter (thereby organizing your thoughts). This is a great place to start (I think).

I'd go through that list and work on things that you can do now (and separate the long term goals).

In terms of cleaning, I find tackling ONE room at a time really helps. Forget cleaning all at once...that never works. Pick a room that is not too big or messy and start there. Once you finish organizing it (cleaning it from floor to ceiling, washing, etc), you'll feel a sense of accomplishment and feel motivated to go on to the next room.

EDIT: if cleaning an entire room at once seems too large a task, start in one corner of the room and do bit by bit (i.e. the study table, the dresser, etc). Again, the completion of each area will provide you with that sense of satisfaction that motivates you to continue.

Multi-tasking can help. If you're watching TV, fold laundry. Read a book, cook dinner, or do your nails, while you're posting on LS.

Here is another idea, outsource some tasks to others. Once you see the bill(s), you'll get motivated to either make more money or do it yourself.

Cleaning the bathroom and kitchen used to be annoying, now I find it relaxing by cleaning portions everyday.

I have the same problem, I have so many ideas of what I want to do in my head that it seems too much to bear...

I've found that when it comes to exercising, you have to find an activity that doesn't feel like exercising to you. For me it was martial arts. For one of my friends it was soccer.
