AnLandy Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I did some digging on my own (no contact with my friend's family or associates), and I think that I have figured out why my best friend asked for a loan. Without getting into too much detail, I think that one of his family members requires bail. The info I found lists the bail grant at $150,000, ten percent of which would be the asked for $15,000. Now that I know the issue behind the request, I'm not inclinded to change my mind, but I understand why he didn't want to say anything. I work in the criminal justice field, so I think he was concerned about my reaction.
Fun2BMe Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Someone who requires that much bail deserves to stay behind bars. Also, I'd think you'd ask the friend why they needed that much money considering you'd be lending it. But I wouldn't want my hard earned money to free a felon who I did't know personally. If it was for a life saving emergency surgery or other good cause, even to purchase a necessary car, then it would make more sense to lend that much money.
