Like was it when you least expected or were you looking for someone? Did you just do what you do and you bumped into the right one?

I met my boyfriend at the gym. I actually was working out and he didn't notice me because I was all sweaty and gross...understandable, I mean I usually don't go to the gym to pick up dudes or anything.

So anyway, I took a shower and got ready there at the gym because I was going straight to a restaurant. I stopped at the little counter where they had food and bought an energy drink. I was in a hurry so I was really late, and went to rush out the door and bumped right into this guy coming in the door. I almost fell over and he caught me from falling. I said thanks and left.

The next day I went to the gym again. I was about to come out to go work and he was at the water fountain. He saw me and we started talking about how packed the gym was and that all the treadmills were taken. We really clicked so he asked me for my number. And now 2 years later here we are!

I can't remember how I met the first one.. that was 41 years ago...

but my last ex.. I had been single for over a year.. then I saw him at the store.. and I knew he had been divorced for about a year too... so I gave him a call... and ask him if he'd like to go out for a drink sometimes..

I thought he would think I was nuts and that he wouldn't call me back, since he was 12 years younger... (my best friend pushed me to call him ).... anyway.. he called me the next day (Tuesday) to set up a date.. we had our first date the next Saturday and never left each other after that... we lived 5 years together.. he was (still is) amazing.

I was playing a gig and noticed her walk in while we were playing. She had on a really hot outfit (not that she's not hot herself). She was there for a band that was playing after us so after we got done playing I went over to talk to her and work my magic.

I met a guy through my brother and we went out a few times. He had a roommate, but I was rarely around when he was home. The guy I met through my brother and I didn't move on to anything serious but we stayed friends.

About a year later, I had broken up with a guy I had dated for about 10 months right before a good friend's wedding. I didn't have a date so I asked my friend that my brother introduced me to. I had gotten to know his roommate a little better but had no designs on him. At the wedding, my friend told me he had met a girl and she would be meeting him at his place after the wedding was over. I stayed and played cards with them and his roommate.

The next day was the Ribfest and I didn't want to go alone. My brother and best friend were both working. My newly wed friend was on her honeymoon. Two others were out of town and I didn't want to ask the one who had escorted me to the wedding; I didn't want to make the new girl he was seeing uncomfortable. So while I was thinking of who I could call, I remembered that my friend's roommate had just lost his job. I figured he would be up for a free meal. I still had absolutely no designs on him.

We had a blast though and spent all afternoon and evening running around. He told me he had downloaded a movie that I really wanted to see. So we stopped for some alcoholic beverages.

While walking into the liquor store I pondered if alcohol was the best idea. I was still sorta newly single and he was attractive. But I couldn't think of any big reasons why it would be a big deal if we drunkenly hooked up. We did and it'll be four years in two weeks exactly. We're getting married next spring.

I found out that the few times I stayed over with his roommate over a year prior and would stop at the bagel shop under his apartment before heading home. I never guessed the guy who made my awesome egg, swiss, and avocado sandwiches would end up being the love of my life. ;)

I was working at Sears for a seasonal job. I had been there only a month, when I was told the 'vacuum boy' was taken so I wasn't to talk to him. Well, I finally met the guy in vacuums, and he was just too cute! At that time though, I was fed up with guys.

Fast forward maybe 3 weeks and he asks me to take my lunch break with him. So he buys me pizza and we talk the entire 30 minutes. Suddenly, he disappears for a month. Finally, he comes back in January and asks me to come over to watch football. I was only thinking in terms of friends and I decided to go. That was my last night of work. He ended up asking me out for the next day too, and as they say the rest is history.

So really all of your encounters were kind of bumping into someone and the rest is history....i think i need to not worry about girls and let time take its course.

I met my wife in a chat room with a similar theme to this one. She lived 3,200 miles away, but we worked it out over a long time and ended up married :)

I met mine the first day I started at a new High School. We were about 13 so not exactly earth shattering. :p About a year and a half later we were together, then broke up after 3 months. I couldn't stand him after that, we were pretty nasty to each other.

Then when I was 17, we got together again and now 3 years and 8 months later I'm still with him (I can only remember how long it has been because our "anniversary" is Halloween).

Honestly, most of the people who I know that are married or in long term relationships say they met the person they love just when they had stopped looking.

My ex... we met in the first class on the first day of our freshman year of college.

When he walked into the room I felt a kind of pull, and then he sat down next to me, and we just grinned at each other and I remember thinking "I'm going to marry him" and for three years we were always together.

I think the lesson I was supposed to learn from that one is that love doens't mean s!ht.

I met my most recent ex in a night class (I was the only girl in the class). I remember sitting down the first day and noticing he was looking at me. I thought he was a lot older because he was 23 at the time but could have passed for 28-30. We weren't very friendly in the class but started talking online as the semester drew to a close. Finally he asked me if I wanted to hang out some time. Our first date was a disaster because I was super nervous, but the second ended with a long make out session and things progressed from there.

Another ex I met because we were co-editors at our college newspaper.

1st GF 1992 - Met through cousin and one of his flings (she was her best friend). Lasted about six weeks (met up three times), she was not interested anymore.

2nd GF 2001 - Met online in her chat room. Long distant dated for 3 or 4 months. Had one week of face-to-face meeting. Lost contact when I went overseas.

3rd GF 2003 - A mutual friend hooked us up. Lasted about 3 months (no heavy dating). Mutually lost interest when she had moved to another island and neither of us could really travel like we wanted.

At work - I've been dating my boss for three years now!

I'm such a statistic.

I had given up on finding a guy that I liked...I'd tried all the online forums and hadn't lucked out at all. So, I went out to dinner with my girlfriends and decided that I was chucking it all in and just going to be alone forever. Then he spotted me at the bar, did his thing for awhile, finally came up and talked to me, and we've been together for two months.

I've almost always met people I dated accidentally, when I least expected it or when I did NOT want to be in a relationship. I dated ONE guy I met on a dating site, but that was the only one (and obviously that didn't work out).

Mostly, I meet guys at friends' houses.

That's a great attitude, Brady. :)

We met at a Rancid (punk band) show in 2006. I noticed him staring at me for quite a long time out of the corner of my eye, so I turned around and asked "Are you staring at me?" and he said "Sorry, you're just really intriguing to look at." And the rest is history, or whatever :D
