gummybear Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I've been using this online dating service for the first time and just finally found someone I'm doing open communication with. It's interesting how it makes us answer each others questions -- time consuming but cool hehe. Who's used this service before? Any insights? Did it work and did you find your soulmate?
Keridan Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I tried those sites once or twice but it didn't work out so well for me. I went back to bars and friends' friends and such. Ironically, I later met my wife in a random chat room on Yahoo
Author gummybear Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 I tried those sites once or twice but it didn't work out so well for me. I went back to bars and friends' friends and such. Ironically, I later met my wife in a random chat room on Yahoo Wow random chat room huh? hehe. I'm curious, I'm doing multiple dating sites right now and with all those profiles and stuff its so intimidating! I mean how do you differentiate them and know which ones to meet? Do you get like some instant connection/spark while communicating online that make you go 'ooh, i need to meet this person!'. Cuz I've been doing this for a month and haven't found anything. This guy on eharmony is the first POTENTIAL guy but still I'm not so sure yet...it's like I'm not super excited or anything bout him. Maybe what I need is just patience. Dunno. hehe.
Keridan Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 The profiles don't tell you enough about them. Neither do the first couple emails. I highly suggest you make contact through an IM program or by phone. The spark isn't until you know the person, I don't think. There can be things that cause instant attraction, but you have to have some further communication before you can see if you will really hit it off.
Star Gazer Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I've actually had pretty good relationships with guys I met on eHarmony over the years. They didn't work out because (1) I moved 400 miles away, (2) he moved to Chicago, and (3) the spark was never really 100% there. But otherwise, we got along famously. I think the site does a very good job of finding someone with whom you're compatible on a personality-level. The trick is finding that *spark*! As such, I'd recommend meeting up with the person as soon as humanly possible, so that you (1) don't feel as though you wasted a TON of time if the spark isn't there, and/or (2) feel obligated to try and make it work bc on all other levels they're an awesome person. Good luck!!!
Shygirl15 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I never tried eHarmony because I didn't feel like I would get someone from my area of this site. Then the questionnaires were just too much and it was just too expensive. I really liked Match.com, plenty of locals there, plus you do your own searching and skimming through profiles.Dated 2 very decent professional guys I would never have met in real life dating. Even when we broke up, we remained friends. I'm now using Yahoo Personals which is also cool and I'm conversating with LOTS of people my head spins.
