Kelso Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I've just met this wonderful girl at my work. She's nice, beautiful, smart and funny plus she smiles the whole day. We've been seeing each other a little outside work. However, she will be moving away to a town that is 500 miles away in October, as she got her dream job over there. She will spend about 10 months working there and then she will be back. I would really like to continue seeing this girl, but I'm afraid that I might be setting myself up for some troubles later on. Is there anyone that can give me any advice on this? Someone that has any experience on LDR.
diesel1218 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Well I have been in a long distance relationship once, and to be completely honest, it didnt turn out well. How long have you been seeing this girl? Also 500 miles isnt that long of a distance, "I know gas prices stuck right now" but it is drivable. I was in a 3500 mile LDR and it was to distant. Go with your gut if you two talk about it and feel you can make it work, take that leap.
Sothas Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 The most experience I have with a LDR is only about 40 miles but only 1 of us had a car so it was still semi-difficult (moved to college). I believe that as long as both people are committed to the relationship then it is definitely possible, things didn't work out for me because she just didn't really have feelings for me anymore but I don't believe that was a result of the distance at all. Just make sure you're honest with each other, and expect it to be a bumpy road. LDR's aren't easy but they are possible. Good Luck -Sothas
Enema Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I personally don't think LDR's are do-able. 10 months isn't a great deal of time though so I think she should leave with the understanding that you're not exclusive, but if she comes back and you're both still keen then hey presto, time to get it on.
