Habibti Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Hello, I wanted to get your opinion on wether or not you would consider this lying. The boyfriend has mentioned over and over time and time again that he can work when he wants and if he doesn't want too he doesn't have too. He's said "Hey, I can take 3 months off at a time if I really want too." So, I wanted him to come meet my family which he said he wanted to do, but when it came down to getting a date set he was kind of wishy washy about it, citing work. Does that not seem like a lie to you in some sense? If someone says they can work when they want or if they don't want too at all they can simply take that time off but then you get an excuse about having too work and not being sure when they could get time off. I don't know..is this a lie or not? I'm not looking for an analysis of why he lied..just wether you would consider this lying or not...
endlesstrains Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 It could be a lie because he doesn't want to meet your family, but at the same time he may have just been bragging or exaggerating about his work and when it comes down to it he can't actually take time off at the drop of a hat. Or maybe he thought he could but when placed in the actual situation he realized it wasn't as easy as he thought.
sid3 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I recently read that when people lie, they blink anywhere from 5-15 times more than they normally do. maybe something changed in his work that he didn't anticipate. It's unlikely that most people could stop working for 3 months without some kind of consequences.
