CandyGirlXO Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I was just curious as to what is the longest you have ever gone single AFTER you started dating? For me I have been single for a year here and there but that has been the longest I have gone. I was just wondering because everyone keeps telling me I need to be single and not get into another relationship. IMO most people don't stay single for long. After reading the how many people have you made-out with thread I was thinking that I am probably wrong. I am 25 and I have had 3 long term relationships... 2 years, 2 years, and then 3 years. I absolutely HATE being single, but I am trying to relax and enjoy it.
Carmen87 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Well, I started dating when I was 18. I am now 21. The longest I have been single is 8 months I believe.
curiousnycgirl Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 LOL what a funny question. My answer is 9.5. I was 19 when my fiance died, roughly 28 when I met my next significant other who I dated until I was almost 31 and then 39 when I met my current bf, I am now 43. Of course in the intervening years I dated - and there were some who I dated for several months, but I don't count them. I also don't count the 8 year FWB thing I had going on until I met my current b/f.
Trialbyfire Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 When you say single, do you mean not in a previously discussed and agreed upon exclusive, committed relationship? I ask because people sometimes confuse dating the same person for a short span of time, with being in a relationship.
alextop30 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 well I have been dateless or not in a relationship for 2 years now. I cannot explain it - American women just don't like me I guess.
SS49 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 4 years 6 months and counting..... mostly because of a combination of school/starting out in my career & a horrendous break-up. The aftermath of the break-up actually kept me totally out of the dating game for about 2 years.
Bloodelf Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I am 21 years old and never been in a relationship, i win!
daphne Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 3 years twice. Should have learned to move on a lot quicker!
D-Lish Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I have been single for two years now, but have dated lots in those two years. I have had some brief 2-3 monther's... but I don't consider them relationships. This is the longest I have been single... I was with my ex husband for almost 9 years...
tinktronik Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 2 years the first time . Then 1 year, but I'm not sure if that counts b/c I lived with my friend and my roommate that year and he has now been my s/o for a long time. From friends to lovers.

The first year and a half though was self imposed as my last breakup was just terrible, and I just knew I couldn't be fair to any guy. My latest interestis major, but nothing has happened........................ YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prodigal Princess Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I am 27 and have been single for about 4 years, following a misguided interruption to my blissful single state. I intend to be single for the rest of my life.
D-D Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I am 21 years old and never been in a relationship, i win! I'm 24 and have been single my entire life. I've dated here and there but never had a steady SO.
saraispiel19 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 a little less than a week but thats only because i've had 2 relationships my whole life (i married boyfriend #2) *little anecdote: teehee i told my ex that i wanted to go on a break (i was interested in what is now my husband) and then broke it off with the ex when i found out my hubby was interested in me
AriaIncognito Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 3 years. I was in a 4 year relationship and then single for 3 years and then had a guy, then was single a few months, then we broke up and i was single for about 8 months and then just dating. During the 3 years, I was really happily single. I wouldn't mind being that kinda happy both single and in a relationship. There's something to be said for not "needing" a signficant other but just "wanting" one around.
KatanaRamirez Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I seem to have 3 year back to back relationships, with a few weeks in between the 2nd and 3rd, still in the 3rd now but experiencing problems. 1st 17 t0 20, 2nd 20 to 23, 3rd/current 23- 24.

CaliGuy Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 3 years now. I have been on dates and had "relationships" but they weren't the kind that you could really call sustained. Longest relationship lasted about 5 years. She wanted to get married, I did not. I'm going out on dates now but haven't really met anyone that knocked me for a loop or could keep my attention. They are either far too young (like this last one, we were on and off for a year) or far too old. How about a nice 30-35 year old woman with her head on straight? Is that too much to ask? LOL
Potatocakes Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Um 8 or 9 months I believe.. hmm jeez might have been a little longer but it was after my first and I jumped right into another LTR, now currently trying to work on things with my recent ex.
Mezzi Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I have not had a boyfriend since 2006 basically; which really sucks.
