Trialbyfire Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 shadow, it's like you believe that attraction is solely fueled by the external. It's not always the case. If someone solely values the external, consider yourself easily disposable and replaceable. Avoid someone like this, like the plague.
Author shadowplay Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 No, I think inner and outer beauty are mostly -- but not entirely -- separate in terms of how men view women. When a guy I barely know is looking in my eyes I feel like he is judging me mostly based on how I look, what position I hold in relation to him (at a job for example), and how confident I seem -- in that order. When a guy I know well is looking into my eyes I feel like he is mostly responding to my personality. I think inner and outer beauty are more entangled for women in terms of how they view potential mates. If I don't like a guy's personality, he automatically looks less physically attractive to me. If a guy has a sexy vibe or personality, he suddenly looks more attractive. That said, I'm pretty good at separating the objective from the subjective. I can find an unconventional guy physically attractive but still recognize that objectively he may not be the standard. I find that I'm more attuned to objective "aesthetics" than most people. But this may be because I'm an artist and very attuned to detail. Let me just clarify my definitions of objective and subjective in terms of beauty. In absolute terms, there is no objective beauty because nobody is attractive to everybody -- especially when you look across culture and time lines. So I'm using the term very loosely to describe what Western culture, specifically the entertainment industry, considers attractive. Even that def may be problematic because standards of beauty have fluctuated since the birth of Hollywood. But there are still some common traits.

I think for guys initial attraction is fueled mostly but not solely by the external. It also depends on a guy's level of education and class. Maybe I'm being classist, but I think more intelligent men are more likely to seek out intelligent women. An uneducated guy is less likely to care about whether a girl is smart or classy. After the first impression it becomes more about personality.
carhill Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Nemo's been "brown-nosing" again No, I think inner and outer beauty are mostly -- but not entirely -- separate in terms of how men view women. When a guy I know well is looking into my eyes I feel like he is mostly responding to my personality. Interesting. So, when a guy whom you barely know isn't talking to your "girls" but rather holding your gaze, you think he's focused on appearances. I can work with that Give me some time. Would you like your inner beauty to be more understood and better embraced by men?

Some of the most intelligent and educated men I've had the displeasure of being with, have also been the most god awful superficial men you've ever met. Of course they've learned to hide this...
Nemo Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If someone solely values the external, consider yourself easily disposable and replaceable. Dude... pretty people are the hardest to replace!!!! Trust me, there are a lot of ugly people out there, and you have to pan through a lot of dirt to find that speck of gold.

Dudette, some of the prettiest people aren't what society views as attractive. This is what the panning is about. Dross over real gold.

Some of the most intelligent and educated men I've had the displeasure of being with, have also been the most god awful superficial men you've ever met. Absolutely right. No amount of education or intelligence can compensate for having a small penis. Eventually even they have to admit it.
Nemo Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Dudette, some of the prettiest people aren't what society views as attractive. This is what the panning is about. Dross over real gold. Are you trying to tell me that George Clooney isn't pretty?? Get real.
Trialbyfire Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Absolutely right. No amount of education or intelligence can compensate for having a small penis. Eventually even they have to admit it. Some of the biggest dicks I've met have been the most educated and intelligent men I've ever had the displeasure of getting to know! Of course we're not talking about the same kind of dicks.
45Reverse Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I know everyone's preferences are different, but do you guys think I'm too thin? http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/963/meaq3.jpg I like the weight I'm at now, but sometimes other people make comments like "you're so skinny" and it kind of disturbs me. Nope, you look great. Really great in fact. Whoever says that $#it ain't payin attention.
Trialbyfire Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Are you trying to tell me that George Clooney isn't pretty?? Get real. Surprisingly, good ol' George's body and facial type aren't what I normally favour. He's too heavy-set for my taste, from a purely physical perspective. But... His polish, intelligence and confidence, are highly, highly attractive to me.
Nemo Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Of course we're not talking about the same kind of dicks. Okay, that's enough about dicks, I think. We should really get back onto the topic of the OP's breasts. His polish, intelligence and confidence, are highly, highly attractive to me. Point taken. I would love to get better acquainted with George's polish. Thankfully Becks has a hot enough bod that he doesn't need trimmings.
45Reverse Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Do you guys think larger breasts would fill out my figure better? I've vaguely considered implants from time to time. Be honest. No. Bad idea. You said in another thread they're C's right? Those are keepers Shadow. My EX had implants. Don't waste the time and money.
Carmen87 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 No. Bad idea. You said in another thread they're C's right? Those are keepers Shadow. My EX had implants. Don't waste the time and money. I agree, don't get implants. It would be too much! I have larger boobs than you at the same height and weight. I get made fun of and stared at. It is really really embarassing and humiliating to have them always be commented on.
Pluto Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 There is a scale I use - anorexic -- skinny --slim and slender -- average-- curvy --- overweight --- obese. I'd put you in the skinny category, there's nothing wrong with you, but I personally prefer slim and slender, average and curvy women. It's what turns me on, but I don't think there is anything for you to worry about. I personally think you'd look better with a few more pounds on you, but that's just me. I am 5ft 8, I weigh 140 pounds -- I get called skinny all the time, though today someone called me fat -- I have a baby face and I don't have a six pack. I pay little heed to such comments, because I know I am an average weight for my height and I guess you are too. If you are comfortable and happy with your body, then you keep it. Plenty of men would die to date someone with your figure.
Trialbyfire Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I'm waiting for the next thread of: Are my boobs too big or am I just too gorgeous for words? Sorry shadow, couldn't resist!

Great idea...You go first I'd play too but unfortunately I just have pecs and con't compete with boobs. I'll be more than happy to let you ladies know if your cans are too big though.

D-Lish Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Not too skinny at all, I wouldn't worry about it. I worked in the fashion industry for years- I saw a whole lot of anorexic and skinny... You look fine, I'd catagorize you as slender. I am 5'7"- and currently 118lbs. When I was super immersed in the industry I was 105 lbs... and that just wasn't attractive.
Nevermind Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That's a bmi under 18...wow. I don't think you're too skinny, shadow.
Balthazar Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I don't think you should gain weight. Looking at the photo, it is clear your waist would suffer and ruin the general symmetry. If you decide to gain weight, it should be no more than a few pounds or so. CHeers,
blind_otter Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 As long as your ribs aren't showing right below your collar bone, you should be fine.

You really can't use fashion as a point here, the Kate Moss look is highly unattractive, I'd sooner sleep with someone of Oprah Winfrey's size then a model. And you are underweight D-lish, your BMI will state so, you for all your appearance finesse are underweight = unhealthy. Chomp into some french fries.
